Slow Cooker Recipes

I am looking for some receipes, so that I can have the food cook while I am work. This way when I come home, I can eat, and when I get back from the gym I can eat.

Any suggestions?

I was thinking chili, but I hate beans – save for tofu. No bean chili receipes?

Cheers!

Best slow cooker cook book I’ve found. Great, easy recipes.

pretty simple bro with some basic spice knowledge. just pick spices, pick meat put in cooker with a ton of varied veggies and let er rip. Im eating chili as I type with chicken, onion, tomatoe, green pepper, mixed veggies, chili powder garlis, cumin, salt. etc etc.

fear not the cooker experiment away.

Best thing to do is go out shoot a deer, clean it. Grab a hind quarter and throw it in a crock pot. Add water, potatoes, onions, carrots, mushrooms and anything else you might want to toss in. Put it “on” about 6:00AM and by about 6:00PM it should be righteous. Optional but necessary, serve with a Sam Adams.

I decided to splurge a little this week and bought a couple buffalo roasts from Whole Foods. All I did was season the meat with garlic salt and pepper and add about half a cup of Lee and Perrins to the bottom of the crock pot. Sometimes I’ll also add a clove or 2 of garlic to the bottom of the pot as well. Aside from that, I added a frozen bag of carrots and green beans along with a sliced onion. Set your cook time and your done.

It really is hard to screw something up in the slow cooker so just experiment with meat and veggies that you like. My only recommendation is to season the meat well and add some type of broth or marinade at the bottom of the pot so that the meat doesn’t dry out.

My sister used to make the best ham for the holidays. When we asked her for the recipe, she said to take a canned ham, put in the crock pot, cover it with water, and then cook on high for 6 hours. That was it. Nothing else to it.

I buy beef tips, put them in the crock pot, cover them with water, add some Worchestershire sauce, garlic salt and pepper and set the pot to LOW. I have plenty of protein when I come home from work 10 hours later.

For that long, you really need to use LOW. I learned that the hard way.

The basic principle seems to be to put almost any kind of meat in the pot, cover with water, season as desired and come back in 6-10 hours. I’ve done it with beef, ham and whole chickens. It’s annoying to pick the bones out of the chicken though.

I have chicken breasts in the slow cooker right now. Cover them in water, put in a couple chicken bouillon cubes, onion powder, garlic, pepper and whatever other seasonings you want. Like someone else said, put it on low if you’re going to be gone all day. They should come out nice and juicy…great for making shredded chicken.
