Skim Milk or Whole Milk?

The estrogens found in whole milk are good for bulking as well.

Estrogen in milk has been debated and proven inconclusive, or in such minute quantities that it’s negligible. In the grand scheme of things, who gives a shit about skim, 1%, 2% or whole; if your not cutting just drink a shit-ton of it.

Raw Milk if it’s legal where you live.

drinking skim milk is basically putting in empty calories IMO, pretty much sugary water, so it’s no good for dieting, and whole milk is way better for bulking, plus as mentioned above, you get more calcium and proteins, vitamins and minerals.

Skim Milk Post Workout is better than Whole Milk Post Workout. Just look at the ratios. Gotta replenish them glycogen stores.

I understand what you are saying, there is a lot of sugars in milk. But when each has 1g of protein per ounce how do you figure there is more protein in whole vs. skim?

LOL…shut up.

I stopped drinking milk and my stool has been more solid and my ass isn’t all chapped from wiping it so much anymore.

Raw unpasturized milk. It’ll put muscle on your frame and hair on your balls.

x2. plus raw yogurt from grass fed cows.

just wipe the cow’s ass, throw it in a giant blender and I’ll drink it.

2 Dollars for a Gallon are you cereal!? Here in Onatario, Canada its over 4.60 for 2 litres. I get 4 Litre Jugs for 6.50ish.
Say what? I live in Ontario, too, and it’s about $4 for 4 litre bags at the grocery store. Still twice as much as in the US, but a) our farmers have greater restrictions on the hormones they’re allowed to give the cows, and b) the dairy board has a monopolistic control on the industry in our province – which is also part of the reason why we can’t get whole, unpasturized milk here. Or at least, not easily. And certainly not cheaply.

Some vitamins don’t absorb without fat.
x2… I’ve always wondered about this. Vitamin D is fat soluble yet i see it written on fat free milk. Are we even able to utilize it?

You don’t need to eat fat at the exact same time as the vitamin to be able to use it.

The protein is present in the same amounts, but I’m pretty sure it becomes more available for digestion with the fats in whole milk…I may be wrong though.

Just drink what milk tastes best for you, for weight gain or weight maintenance. The difference in calories is not really worth debating over on an internet thread. For weight loss drink very minimal or none at all.

So, what cheese is best?
Swiss, American or Provolone?

Those of you advocating the unpasteurized stuff:

If that’s not available, would you just skip the milk all together?

I went years without drinking milk. I didn’t miss it too much. I could take it or leave it.

Now, I’m trying to bulk-up a bit. So I reintroduced it into my diet via protein shakes, generally I get the Whole Foods brand 2%. I tried rice milk for awhile, and hemp, but I was going through them so quickly, it wasn’t cost effective. I don’t really like protein shakes with water… I guess I could try water and cottage cheese.

I still can’t help but think that I’d be “healthier” staying away from dairy all together. Something about it is just nasty (even though it tastes good).

Damn-it. I’m rambling.

Is milk better left un-drunk if I can just as easily get the calories elsewhere? Lactose just seems like sugar… and a sugar that we are all more or less allergic to.

…at the end of my ramble, I’m going to have to vote for Whole Milk, just because if you’re going to be putting crap in your body, it might as well taste like creamy-goodness.

Can anyone point to anything that says milk is good for you?

None of the above. The proper cheese herarchy is as follows:
pepper jack
fresh mozarella
provolone
inferior cheeses

As for the original topic, I really like whole milk for people like myself who have to eat tons of calories to maintain a meager bodyweight.
Depending on how strict your diet is, your goals, and your lactose tolerance; skim milk is somewhere within an interval of mildly acceptable and absolute shit.
