Six Bogus Beliefs Held By Youth

Wait, you have faith in society?

I have faith in myself. Fuck society.

Don’t need to ask Iron Dwarf. I could hear his head rattle every time he nodded in agreement with each statement.
The only rattle you’re hearing is whenever I rattle your cage, old dog. Or your own death rattle, growing stronger minute by minute.

My personal opinion on one subject. I love people who think because they are horny bastards or liberal douche bags they can tell everyone else they should fuck their brains out because sex doesn’t mean anything…not like you should base it on anything other than thinking the other person is hot.Maybe im just a sensitive guy.
Dude I agree with you on a lot of things. Sex isn’t meaningless for me either and I have no intnetion of fucking everything around me, it’s just not who I am.
But you need to chill the fuck out…

Wouldn’t that last statement be true of everyone?

#3 is huge IMO. Nearly everyone in college thought this way at least where I went. Every single important issue boiled down to oppressor vs. victim. Religion might barely exist through actual practice and worship but this is actually a very religious (Christian) mindset.

Quite true, but mine is barely audible, while I can hear yours from here!

lol

So it’s been established that HH is also Clip11, what about lixy?

Just based on lixy’s posts in PWI it seems like it might be him too.

Some people die during sex, so they probably go out with a bang.

Petermus makes a good point. I think you lose your feelings when you play around too much for too long.

Over at Sherdog, we’re all going Viking – no shave or haircut until Jan 1st. I figure also, being a dwarf, that having all this hair will be a distractor.

Now, back on topic – I am having a GREAT life by not following those 6 beliefs. So…makes me wonder why those beliefs are espoused by our ‘intelligentsia’.

It all depends on your “social group.” When I was a Marine grunt my friends all had pretty old school (lacking a better word) values. I think most Men and Women want a moral code to live by. The Fear of being different just cripples them.

There’s plenty of examples of young people who reject the idea of living without any values and try to form their own social groups, i.e Straightedge, Some Military Occupations, Scouts etc.
Headhunter wrote:

 1. Young people are incapable of recognizing their own enemy.
I am not sure what this means. Is it Young people believe that young people are incapable…
or was that just a statement that Young people are incapable of recognizing their own enemy.
Headhunter wrote:
2) Mankind lived in total ignorance until very recently. (Proof: widespread racism, religious fundamentalism, mistreatment and oppression of women, European imperialism, rabid nationalism, xenophobia, etc. were all norms.) Young women and minorities are especially prone to gobble this idea up and congratulate themselves for being an enlightened member of a progressive society. In the interest of being liked and getting laid, young white men follow suit.
I personally do not believe this. All civilizations go through periods of social change, some progressive and some conservative. It can be argued that there exists an overarching trend of progressive policy in 20th century US, but the Middle East experienced multiple fundamentalist revolutions during the same period.
Headhunter wrote:
3) All types of ‘ignorance’ still exist today AND represent the primary threats to peace and stability. (Conclusion: Legislation to protect minorities (anti-hate, anti-religion) is natural progress and shall continue uninterrupted.) Religion has become like Al-Qaeda to today’s educated youth. It barely exists, but everyone is convinced it is a powerful beast capable of plucking a person out of his hedonistic bliss at any moment, if not carefully watched.
As long as people exist so will ignorance. A casual observer of US Federal legislation would lead someone to infer that legislation to protect minorities is a natural process that will continue. However, a close look at drug enforcement policy would suggest otherwise. State legislatures, particularly in middle America, have increased passing legislation supporting religion. As far as the Al-Qaeda comment, I prefer not to be plucked out of my hedonistic bliss by government sponsored organizations…so ya, I do support the 1st constitutional amendment separating church and state.
Headhunter wrote:
4) Sexual restraint can no longer be taken seriously, as it was an invention of religion to control the masses and women in particular. (Conclusion: Get it when you can, while you can. It’s practice for someone you might really like someday!) There is a tremendous amount of pressure on young women to be able to “handle” emotion-free sex.

They have been convinced, mostly through entertainment media, that taking sex seriously is a weakness. It is a bodily need detached from the rest of you. Combined with a social scene set around alcohol, young love is a messy, schizophrenic story where one is very lucky to find someone on the same page.
So when exactly did consensual sex between two adults become wrong? Also, and much more importantly, what would be your solution? Censor the entertainment media, raise the drinking age to 30, make sex out of marriage illegal, impose a curfew of young adults? How many of our constitutionally protected freedoms can you justify “discouraging” to impose your moral standard?
Headhunter wrote:
5) Total Moral Relativity : there are no absolute truths, there is no reason to believe in anything too strongly, everything is circumstantial. (Conclusion: yes, everything is corrupt. It has always been that way. Power corrupts. We’re selfish. People are assholes. I’m an asshole, at least I’m willing to admit it.) Result: attitudes are uniform within social groups.
Welcome to the post-modern society. Begin by accepting the Socratesian notion that you cannot know everything. Now apply just a dash of existentialism, “I do not know why I am here and therefor cannot know why all of us are here.” Now acknowledge that human interaction takes place on vast and intricate levels far beyond any individuals ability to fully understand. Got it? Good. Now try and justify imposing your social morals on groups of people you will never understand.
Headhunter wrote:
6) Politics and religion are not to be discussed amongst friends, therefore they are not. Ever. (Conclusion: agree to disagree. Result: Even the smartest people are never exposed to ideas outside of the mainstream media/academia, but you cannot convince them of this.)
lol, That’s not fair! I can’t disagree without agreeing with you. Well, you cannot convince me that you ever graduated from high school. No? you can? you have a diploma, transcripts, written work you submitted? O ya! Watch me brush aside all that evidence with one off hand statement.

You cannot debate someone who doesn’t understand the rules of debate and why they are there.

Anyway, smart people being exposed to ideas that are contrary to their own…I, a political science major, have never debated ANYONE EVER on ideas I do not agree with, nor have I ever seen such a debate take place, ever.

On one end there are conservative talking heads distraught at notions that young people are getting lazier, less intellectual, shorter attention spans. The same pundit the very same argument will be furious over the words of some college kid’s ten-million plus trafficked blog. Thanks to the modern conservative movement, most of us “educated” youth endure opposing opinions ad nauseum.

Not a bad way to wake up. Now off to the gym before class. Thanks for reading.

People that complain about mainstream academia not accepting new ideas tend to be embittered crackpots that can’t get anyone to listen to their proof of Fermat’s Last Theorem using elementary methods.

[sarcasm on]
There is no difference between the youth of today and the youth of previous generations.

The youth of every generation thinks that they are pushing some imaginary envelope of thought and morality, not knowing that they are operating under the same tired old misconception as the previous ones, which is that they are pushing some imaginary envelope of thought and morality.

Kids today need a new misconception. They need to engage in some movement that is not based on a previous one, like being a hippy or a beatnik or punk or a communist as kids of previous generations have in response and retaliation to social norms and values.

I think it would be utterly fucking hilarious if the new generation of 18-20 somethings completely embraced all of the social norms and values their elders put forth but didn’t follow. Went to college, studied standard disciplines, demonstrated good work ethics, the whole enchilada.

The current generation of elders would go into a tailspin. They would lose the ability to gripe like their generation of elders did, and in a fit of boredom would commit a mass suicide.

Their notes would all blame the youth of today for destroying society as we know it, and they would be right.

[/sarcasm]

Stupid.
I know what’s going on.
Your trying to mess with my head and confuse me to think that i thought what you were thinking.
Brain trip.
Oh jeeeezuusss need to go smoke a blunt now.
