When i unload the bar i try to balance how much weight im carrying in each hand. If i grab a plate with right hand, when i grab another it has to be with the left lol. I think of it as a mini arm/forearm workout.

I have to watch my breathing, I get some brutal stomach gas/burps when I’m doing deads.
I like to pretend I am a robot. When I walk around the gym it’s like T-1000 style and my head can only rotate on the axis of my spine; can’t look at the floor or ceiling. I don’t blink when I walk towards the rack/bench for a heavy set because robots don’t blink. I do a long blink (to get my mind right), then a short blink (I shouldn’t because robots don’t blink) right before I execute the lift.
For most barbell lifts I like to grip the bar and shake it violently without lifting it off the ground before my actual set.

I sometimes do self hypnosis before a hard set. Sometimes I unconsciously slip into the monk style pose, sitting on the floor with hands in front of face, prayer style, eyes closed. And when I opened my eyes, many times other gym peeps will make fun of me.
Oh, and I also HAVE to take a dump before hitting the gym.

I use to get really aggressive and amped up before taking heavy singles, but I’m finding that the stronger I get, the calmer I am before big lifts.
I have a playlist of only 5 songs that I listen to during my last set on big lifts to get me pumped up.
Only 2 different bands:
All That Remains
Bullet for my Valentine.
And there is certain times during the songs that I will begin lifting.
