I also went to the mall a few months ago with my mother and sister and saw what were two 19 year olds dressed like skanks. I immediately thought, “If my daughter dresses like that I will throw her under a fucking bus.” It actually bothered me and I am nowhere near settling down and starting a family.

i wonder when im old if i’ll lose that feeling of wanting to plow a 19 yr old
Part of you will ALWAYS want to. It’s the doing part that might be a different story.

If you mean plow in the face I can attest to the fact that that feeling stays strong for a long time.

I’m 25, and the cashiers at the grocery store call me “sir” often… really pisses me off, but I think it’s just a polite manner of speech for some.

I think it is just good manners. I call a lot of people sir or ma’am. Plus it beats the hell out of being called ‘hun’ by some teenage chiquita.
Hahaha.

You and every woman I’ve spoken to HATES this. Is there a word equivalent to ‘emasculating’ for females? Being called ‘hun’ by a prosti-tot must be the same thing.

Should’ve overhead pressed the teenie

See above regarding plowing a 19 year old in the face.

Don’t think for a minute I let this go. I was stunned the first time I heard it. I thought I had forgotten that the cashier was an elderly woman (in which case, hun is okay). Stupida chiquita was treated to a lecture on respectful address… and a punch in the face (I wish). FFS I’m middle aged, I have no desire to be mistaken for some teenybopper. My age isn’t a source of embarrassment to me.

I’m 21, however I can manipulate my age with the amount of facial hair I have.

beard/goatee = sir, no carding, people take me seriously

no facial hair = I look like I’m 15.

Yah… I am not a fan “Hun”. Last time that happened I just asked her, “did you just call me hun?” She said yes it was a habit, and I told her it was a bad habit. She probably thought I was a grouchy old woman but it is very annoying.

(Note to self: Do not call OG “Hun”. Anymore.)

It is condescending, I agree, and about as bad as calling someone ‘Hey!’ which makes it seem like they are not worth addressing as an individual.

OG’s a ninja. Ninjas don’t like to be called ‘hun.’

It does take away from the mystique and lethality.

.

I don’t get the big issue with “hun”. I admit it.

I grew up in a culture where calling people hun or sugar was common and polite.

Now, I wouldn’t call someone older than me that. An older person would be sir or ma’am, but a person my age or younger I think hun is more polite than hey you.

I don’t do it much anymore but I do sometimes slip usually when I’m tired or stressed out. That’s also when my accent comes out. I go into uber bitch mode when someone gives me shit about it. I once said “excuse me hun” to some 18 year old girl during basic training because she was blocking the sink, and she freaked out on me. I just said “fine, from now on I’ll call you cunt.”

It caught on, eventually the whole platoon referred to her as cunt, god did she hate me…

I’m the opposite. I get the sense that I feel and act younger than I am.

I hear that. I turn 40 in 2.5 weeks and I still act like a teenager with friends in terms of topics of conversation, types of jokes and sophomoric comments. On the bright side, I don’t have to break out my wallet to fish out an id when entering a bar or buying booze.

Funny story – the club I run went out for drinks. They are all college age and when we got to the bar I, of course, didn’t get carded. But amusingly enough the guy carding us thought they were all my kids – like 10 of them! I guess I should be flattered. The two chinese guys and the black guy thought it was really funny.

Oh and Professor X, I had some kid in a gym call me “Sir” too not long ago. I asked him what the &%$$! he meant and told him that not even my ex called me that…

I enjoyed life a lot when I was younger. I enjoy it even more now at 48.

There is a certain amount of confidence that comes with the years and the combination of that and a healthy body makes middle age so much better. I’d take my life at 48 over mine at 28 any day.
You, sir (is this one kosher?), are one of the reasons why every guy should be able to say such a thing at both of those ages.

I’ll get there one day and say the same thing, and I am sure you will still be saying it years down the road. Good on you.

Me too, but I’d rather do it in my 28 year old body.
