Thanks to those of you who shouted out for the Armed Forces. At times I think I’m sick of it but what I’m really sick of is the people who feel the need to tell me about how they don’t believe in what we do or people who ask me how many I’ve killed.
Definately: Teachers
Definately: Law Enforcement and firefighters
Definately: Garbage men (Been there and done that)
Definately: Armed Forces

i think being a waiter is a lot like the MTV game show “Boiling Points”. The objective is to put up with a bunch of absurd bullshit for a certain amount of time and if you can survive without freaking out you win money.
so i conider myself a professional game show player.
Haha that is so awesome. I wish I thought that way when I waited tables, probably would have helped. Where do you work?
i work at a piece of shit. im bummed out cause i worked a fight night (UFC was on) and only made $110…so bullshit. maybe if four out of the 7 tables i had during the fight werent for tabs 25 dollars and under i would have done better.
if youre going to just drink 2 beers and get 5 pepsi refills you should A) go sit at the fucking bar B) stay home for the night as you are obviously not in a financially secure state to be going out.

are the people who ask you about how many people you killed
No, nothing like that. I have been asked by people in their twenties, fuckin adults. People I’ve met at bars or even by someone I do not know that was with someone who knew that I had just gotten back home recently.
Just the other day a guy at the hardware store said, “Don’t kill anyone your not supposed too” and his buddy said I don’t believe in our commitment in Afghanistan. This was after I had informed them of my upcoming deployment and that I love what I do when I’m doing it.
Sorry to countingbeans for steering the thread off topic but I must go to my fiances bridal shower and stuff my face with delicious food. Later Gents

I know you’re a socialist but can’t figure out which one — National Socialist or Soviet Socialist (both winning systems you love there, boyo).

Dude, shout out to Doctors.
They put up with so much shit everyday, angry patients, irritable families, diseases that are difficult to diagnose, and the ever constant threat of the people placed in their hands dying.
Plus, I might add, 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, internship and residency. All so they can get bitched at for not being God.
No. The medical community deserves to take shit for the things that are going on.
I’ll give a shout out to all the good police officers out there. You and I know there’s some awesome ones and then you got some that are absolutely dicks!
Of course all those involved in the Armed Forces to especially those on the front lines!
Also physical and occupational therapists. Helping people recover from injuries and helping others learn how to cope with disabilities in doing things most of us take for granted.
Also those who work in ER. I can’t believe some of them go days straight barely sleeping and not getting to spend much time at home.
Shout out to all the cool teachers I had growing up, wish I would have respected them more. Aw if I had my current mind state back then things would have been so much better.
Garbage men to, any other real laborious work needs a shout out. I did landscaping as one of my first jobs and shit is no joke. Lifting boulders, constantly moving and getting dirty as fuck. So thank you my Mexicans, other Latin brothers and others involved.
They do when the bride says too. I was told I had to go because there would be a couple of people there that are from my side of the family that will not be attending our wedding. Not to mention, the damn good food.
Again its off topic and I’m sorry there countingbeans…

I just wanted to say thanks to a few professions…
Law Enforcement & Fire Fighters - You silly bastards will confront someone with a gun, or run into a building full of fucking FIRE to save my family. I think Cops especially get a lot of bad lip considering the ridiculous situations & major stress of the job, and it’s not always fair to criticize as harshly as a lot of people do. Thank you for looking out for me and mine.
Members of the Armed Forces - Lady’s and Gentlemen, thank you for risking your lives for our freedom, our way of life, and my ability to pursue happiness. (And to the guy in line in front of me at Fresh City in January, I kick myself every fucking day for not buying your lunch for you sir.)
Garbage Men - Honestly, it is one of the most important jobs around. Thanks guys, I need to buy you a beer.
Did I forget any important people out there?
Being as I am one of the people you’re passing thanks out to I appreciate it.
I gave my garbage guy a bottle of Jack for Christmas last year, he was stunned! Guess not too many people think about a thankless job.

On topic: I’m an engineer and during some site visits I run across a lot of contractors and construction workers. A lot of them are dicks, but a solid amount of them that I have met have been genuine, hard working dudes that are supporting their families the best they can. Also, they are building the nation’s playgrounds, bridges and buildings. Cheers to them.

You’re right. Blame the average doctor for the health care mess. Don’t blame hospital administration, politicians, and insurance companies. Nope, blame the average practicing doctor.
Definitely good teachers/coaches. People that work with at-risk youth.
I’d also like to add that most people put up with inane, ridiculous bullshit from society on a daily basis at their place of employment because, sadly, inane ridiculous bullshit is all some of our fellow men and women have to offer us.

Most of the professions described wouldn’t exist without the wealth created in our society by capitalists. We’d be scratching the earth with wooden plows.
The greatest benefactor of civilisation is the American Industrialist.

Assuming you mean the economic mess in healthcare, I’m not blaming doctors for that.

You have no clue what you’re taking about. Most doctors are hard working, honest, caring individuals with real interest in helping their patient. There is however the idiotic idea that any doctor should be able to fix any disease with just a pill, that must be free, with no side effects, no failure rate, regardless of patients doings, no extra referrals to other doctors, no tests, or if any, they must be free, quick, painless and give the precise diagnosis. They can eat what they want, smoke, drink, skip their pills, ignore their health and yet they blame the doctor for being on “oh so many pills” that cost a lot, or being on oxygen when they quit smoking 2 weeks ago after 55 years of 2 packs a day and so many other fucking stupid misconceptions about doctors. I had TONS of people coming to the ER just because they got sick when they stopped meds they “couldn’t afford” but kept buying cigs or booze or other shit. And they all and their families blame their PCPs! Oh, don’t get me started on this subject, I could talk forever. Most doctors try their best, it’s just we’re not supposed to live forever and we all pay for the stupid things we do in life. There are things that cannot be fixed, it’s not your doctor’s fault.

“I tell you boys,” he went on, “if those Russian landing barges come barging in some day, and there isn’t any way to stop `em, all the phony bastards who get all the good jobs in this country by kissing ass will be down to meet the conquerors with vodka and caviar, offering to do any kind of work the Russians have in mind. And you know who’ll take to the woods with hunting knives and Springfields, who’ll go on fighting for a hundred years, by God? The volunteer firemen, that’s who.”
They’re the FIRST in line for setting the parameters for the next generation. A child who comes home to a mindful parent after school is less likely to be on the street and getting into trouble.
