I have been using a Toshiba 17" laptop for many months with IE9. It crashes frequently(maybe due a bad habit of keeping 30+ windows open).
Should i upgrade to IE 10 ?

Yes. IE has never been better. Still prefer both Chrome and Firefox though, but IE has gotten a lot better.
If you can back up your data to an external and wipe the OS with the recovery disks from the manufacturer. Then do a full upgrade on all things from microsoft. This is best practice within my company along with most others.

i recently downloaded the newest version of IE because there was a bug in my Firefox. After installation, i opened IE for the first time and my computer got the blue screen. That was the end of my trial with IE.

x2, this by far trumps anything else software-wise in making a computer run fast again
The only way to upgrade IE is to stop using IE.

I have a question kinda unrelated but seems like a good thread to ask in.
If I’ve deleted pictures on my computer, and would like to get them back how would I go about finding them on my comp? Obviously they’re somewhere on here, but I have no idea how to get to them.
Any advice?

If you have deleted a file off your computer and you want to get it back there are programs that will scan the unused storage space on your computer. When a file is deleted it its not truly gone unless you over write it with more data.
So that is why there are delete programs out there and recovery programs out there you can download and use to recover lost files.
First I would not use that computers hard drive.
Next I would put the hard drive in an enclosure or another machine as “slave”
Next I would put run the recovery program and put the recovered files on your recovery machine’s primary drive and not the drive your recovering from.

Little bit confusing as how to handle the hardrive. I was unaware I could take the hard drive out of my computer…
Is there a program you would recommend for me to use?
And is there a reason why you wouldn’t recover the files on this computer on this computer? I’m sending it in to be cleaned out soon anyways I just wanted to get some old pics that I thought were on here but aparently are not.

This program has worked well for me…
drive A = Deleted files
drive B = Destination for recovered files
Drive A has the files you want to get but just can’t see them. If you write over the drive with recovered garbage you can loose the data(files) you are very well trying to recover
So you recover from drive a and put the files on drive b.

This also cleans out all the shit most normal people put on their computer. 9 times out of ten the computer blue screens or goes tits up is because a user has done something too it or installed something bad on the computer, or opened a bad site/email. Then they bandaid the issue by running another browser or run another os/mac/linux and claim its superior.
Once your computer is up and restored …put in a recovery program that freezes the computer in time and always opens to that snap shot. That way if you get tripped up you reboot and the computer is working again.
And if there is a new issues its not the software its the hardware of the computer.
And always keep your files on an external drive. If that still makes you paranoid …burn them to DVD.

Hmmm thanks for the advice I actually just downloaded a free version of Recuva…it’s pulling up a lot of pictures but on 99% of them it says “file may be corrupted, can not open” do you know if this is just because it’s a free version?
Basically I dont want to buy that recovery wizard and spend 55 only to find out that the pics I’m looking for can not be recoverd. That would suuuckk

Its a risk either way …sometimes when you recover you get crap back. Just a fact.

Chrome is annoying to me for some thing. I get black boxes instead of videos sometimes (Adobe flash player) in Chrome, but in IE it works.

Flash for chrome, firefox and other browsers is a different download. Always works for me when I install it this way.

I got it to work. I went to chrome/plugins, disabled the integrated flash player, and just left the external flash player enabled.
