Hello im 16 years old, I weigh 183 lbs and I’m 5’11’’ tall. I lift 5 times a week and take protein shakes after i lift. I can see I’m getting stronger, because my weight for reps has gone up, but I’m not getting any bigger. should i consider taking testosterone supplements like Alpha Male or indigo 3G?

What are your current bests on the squat, deadlift, flat bench press, overhead press, pull-up, and row?
How much has your bodyweight increased in the last three months?
How much have your lifts increased in the last three months?
What, exactly, did you eat yesterday.?
Absolutely 100% no. Your body has zero need for a Testosterone booster.
Indigo isn’t a Test booster at all, but it’s also entirely inappropriate for your current condition.
Save your money for some good solid food. You need to eat more.
EDIT: Posted same time as Colucci.
Indigo 3G doesn’t work through testosterone it’s more of a glucose disposal agent type product. Alpha Male is not recommended for people your age. Frankly unless you have a medical condition your hormones at 16 are great. You’re just gunna have to eat more.
Think about it. Having more free testosterone in you blood isn’t going to slow your metabolism down so that less of what you eat is burned and more of it is used to build muscle. You just need more resources available to build muscle with the great test levels you probably already have.
If you can get your parents one board then it’ll be a lot easier to eat enough to gain 2-4 pounds a month.
Edit: 3 hit combo!!!
As others have stated, don’t do it.
Look man, I’m 20 years old, and I was in your shoes not so long ago, always looking into things that would give me that “extra edge” over everyone else. Luckily, I listened to the posters on this site, and chose to spend my money on more food. Eat more. The simplest thing I can think of is just start doubling your portions, one meal at a time.
For example, let’s say for breakfast you eat three eggs, two pieces of toast, and a cup of milk (not that much food, I know). Make it six eggs, four pieces of toast, and two cups of milk. Once that gets easy, start doubling your next meal of the day, and so on and so forth.
Also, my high school gym was right next to a burger king, so I made it a point to get a double whopper after every single workout, before drinking my protein shake. Maybe you could do something similiar.
Eat. Lift. Grow. Its that simple. Good luck.
At 16, your testosterone is just fine, no need for Alpha Male. At that age, the only effect it will have is that you will most likely increase the frequency of wet dreams.
At 16, I was 180lbs, 5’10," so I would guess we have a similar build. I do not have abs but I am not fat. I am currently 200lbs and 5’11" at the age of 19, and personally I would not want to get any bigger. I don’t know what your goals are but considering your 16, I’m assuming your goals are athletic-based. With your build at this point, I would suggest focusing on developing your pure strength. Most likely you will still see size gains from this anyways.
These natural test boosters probably won’t do much, if anything for you. So they are largely a waste of money at your age. I know it is not what you want to hear, but food is not only your best option at your age, it is going to establish healthy habits, as everyone is already saying to you. At most stay with your protein and maybe a carb drink during and after workouts.
Drinking the Gatorade with protein during your workouts or even regular Gatorade. Drinking a protein shake before your workouts will help too. Learn how to perform the basic 5 lifts properly. Bench press, squat, military or seated barbell press, deadlift, pull ups. Keep with higher reps and work on form. Ask the older guys for help with form, trust me you are most likely not bothering them, if anything it is an ego boost.
Eat every 2- 3 hours. Eat a huge meal after your training session protein shake. Etc etc. all of this info is already on here for you, all you have to do is actually listen to it and implement it.
Another downside of those t boosters/any supp too out there is possible drug tests from school if your school has them…
I think a 16 year-old male that took test boosters would end up trying to screw everything in the house…even down to the thumb of his catcher’s mitt.
You sound like you’re doing fine. I wish I were 183 at 16, as I’m 6’ and back then I was 165 I think. Shit, I want to be 183 right now.
Well, maybe 200 even.
Well the main reason I was wondering if I should take sand suppliments is because I need to get bigger for football season
In that case, as others have already stated: eat more, probably lots more, probably more than you will feel like eating. Get a notebook and for a week log everything you eat including your best guesses as to quantity. Everybody thinks they “eat lots” but most people really don’t. Most people don’t really know what “lots” even looks like. A real record of your intake will be helpful.
I found these articles really useful:
Following some of these principles allowed me to go from 195 to 230 in about 4 months while staying fairly lean.
Also, if you respond to Chris Colucci’s questions you will probably get some excellent feedback. He’s one knowledgeable dude and you would do well to take advantage of the expertise he’s freely offering.
There are no legitimate short cuts or magic pills. It’s all about effort, consistency and learning: in the weight room, the classroom, on the field, at the dinner table and in life. Now go work hard, get smart and kick ass.
