Should I Pull The Trigger on Accutane? Your Experiences?

My wife used it years ago with astonishing results. The stuff it pushed out of the skin was monstrous.
Speaking of which, as the side effects warn, it is absolutely crucial to not have kids for a certain amount of time or they will be extremely deformed.

Yeah, I think women that take it are required to use 2 forms of birth control during the course and for a few months afterwards.

I am 39, on TRT, and have been on Accutane about 4 months. I decided to stop today because my bloodwork came back it is showing that I am hypothyroid. There have been a few studies showing that Accutane and possibly affect the thyroid negatively, probably only a small percentage of those who are susceptible. Iā€™m going to stop for a while and try to take care of my thyroid, even though thereā€™s no guarantee itā€™s the Accutane, itā€™s not worth risking at this point for me.

Lot has happened since that message. In Jan 2022 I went back on accutane and ran it till July. During that time it gave me some wicked mental sides. Some of the worst depression Iā€™ve ever had. The accutane definitely helped and is still helping to keep acne at bay, but Iā€™ve also lowered my test dose way down to 15 mg daily test prop shots and cut out the HCG and AI. Workouts arenā€™t the greatest at this dose but I feel stable and acne is minimal. Still impossible to avoid every pimple, especially in the summer when sweating more.

I took accutane at age 17, and Iā€™m pretty certain I suffered permanent sexual dysfunction as a result, similar to PFS, with some degree of permanent anhedonia as well. Would not recommend it.

I took it as a teenager and had this. Admittedly, life wasnā€™t great, but I got sent to therapy and the therapist said I was so emotional damaged, she couldnā€™t do anything. Great.

Another guy I knew was taking it, and he had the worse acne Iā€™ve ever seen. Iā€™d pop a zit, have it scab over, then rip off the scab to get more pus out. I thought that was bad. He had it over his entire body, like a plague. Imagine a red bumps with three white heads just speckled everywhere. He was on what I assume was a heavy done, and definitely had some depression.

Also having the dry cracked lips. Fuck that sucked. What fixes it for me is to actually have a consistent skincare routine.

I got off TRT and ran accutane and am now clear
