Should I Be Taking HCG?

Been on TRT for about a year.

Stats are 900 ng/dl and 36 for Est on my last lab.

Feel great but a buddy of mine who just started at a clinic said he is on HCG and that i need to look into it or i could run into some problems.

Is this just the clinic trying to get more money, or do i need to ask about this? I go through my Doc and do everything myself at home.

Thanks

It’s been said that folks with adrenal issues may benefit from hcg. There’s a thread about it. Most of the people that take hcg for a reason usually take it to preserve fertility and testicular size. One argument is you need to use it throughout to maintain fertility. The other is you use it when you have decided to start trying to have a kid. Both seem to be true. From what I’ve seen on forums like this is people have a harder time getting dialed in vs just using testosterone by itself. Some folks don’t have those issues. If you are considering it because you think you’ll get a little more jacked then don’t take it.

I think you just answered your own question.

You sound very susceptible to someone else’s experience. If you feel great, then stay doing what you are doing. Don’t add HCG unless you have a specific reason, like trying to get your SO pregnant.

The answer will be different for everyone, a lot of men don’t tolerate HCG, some do and some feel nothing. Mostly HCG is for cosmetic purposes, there are some men who get testicular atrophy on TRT, but HCG can be a double edge sword creating estrogen inside the testicles, AI’s can’t affect anything inside the testicles.

If fertility is not currently a concern and your shrunken testicles are not bothering you, then HCG probably isn’t necessary. As @dextermorgan mentions HCG can support adrenal function and I suspect this may in fact by why some respond favorably to HCG.

You did say you feel great, I for one has seen men wish they had left well enough alone.

Thanks for the feedback.

I do not want kids and I’m 46 so that’s fine. I was reading a little about some of the other functions it can help with, but it seems like if my blood work is good and i feel healthy i’ll just keep doing what i’m doing.

What I’ve read from this forums seems some people feel better on it, some feel worse.
If you are well dialed on testosterone alone you can try to introduce small dosages, like 250 UI 2-3 times a week and observe how you will feel. Then judge if its worthy.
