Should He Stand?

Can someone oppose police brutality as you put it, but find Kap’s methods offensive?

If I don’t support all aspects of the BLM movement, am I complacent and okay with prejudicial police brutality?

Could you be a part of the Civil Rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s but think the Black Panthers were doing more harm than good?

Was Martin Luther King a complacent person who was okay with the status quo because he often disagreed with Malcolm X’s methods?

So what? If I FEEL something is effective, will you support me? Why should I care more about what Kap says and does, than Dallas Police Chief Captain Brown? Or someone else who’s taking a different tack? Should I respect Kap more?

That’s your opinion. You’re entitled to it, but it’s not a logical argument. You don’t get to decide who’s being disrespected or if their feelings are valid. You can only speak for yourself. Except you seem to know a lot about Kap’s thoughts and feelings, so I guess you can also speak for him.

It’s been asked and you haven’t answered this.
Please tell us where in this thread someone said he should not have freedom of speech? Where has someone implied that they want to “take it from him.” For the life of me, I can’t figure out what are you basing this on.

Liberal straw man argument builder.

Check all that apply:
“If you don’t agree with all of my positions, you”
Hate children (anything educational)
Are sexist (anything dealing with medicine or insurance)
Are racist (anything dealing with poverty or crime)
Are greedy (anything dealing with taxation)

I am also a veteran who finds this extremely disrespectful!! Yes we served to protect our country and the rights of those who live in it. Yes we may not like what they say or do but are still giving them the freedom to make those jacked up decisions. I think if you protest do your thing peacefully and don’t disrespect our history in order to throw a bitch fit and attempt to make a point. Don’t burn flags and stand tall when the anthem is playing, cover your heart as a sign of respect and hope for change. Don’t pick and choose when your going to be an American!!!

This isn’t going to happen at the World Cup.

Seems someone found a way around the issue.

Oh, yeah…“unbelievable”, sure. Because freedom of speech only goes 1 way huh? Because they should “have” to play the anthem at a time that conveniently allows you to protest it by kneeling.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander Rapinoe. Free speech is a two way street.

Another fucking idiot.

Just to add to what Aragorn said…

I HONESTLY think that there are many people who think “Freedom of Speech” also means “Freedom from the Consequences” of that Speech…

Nope.

As I’ve listened to Kaepernick over the past few days; his (not unexpected) line has been “…people are missing the point…”

Nope Kap…you are…

UPDATE

Kaepernick says that he has not converted…but has been “heavily influenced” by his Muslim girlfriend…

Oh, boy…the plot thickens…and gets muddier by the minute…

I feel for the soccer player.

She’s a multiple world champion, and gets paid 4 times less than a bunch of scrubs!

Hilarious.

Freedom of expression, but only for her.

Admits that standing is the respectful thing to do, but says she isn’t lacking respect by kneeling.

Supports an anti-cop agenda, then gets extra police protection who will die protecting her if she gets attacked.

Kaepernick is going to donate 1 million, plus jersey money to charity.

The 49ers are putting up another million.

The Packers are donating $200,000 to the Green Bay Police Association.

Surely, something useful will be done with some of that money, right?

That’s better. As long as the money goes where the mouth is I don’t have as much of a problem. I still have a problem with his behavior, but much less if he backs it up with action.

Thank you Mr. Beckham for your patriotism.

Honestly, the bottom line is I want them to keep their politics off the football field. They are entitled to support whatever cause they want… ON THEIR OWN TIME. Not mine. Football is a distraction from all the crap going on in the world, not a platform to express your whatever cause.

My problem with their free expression is it is a distraction from football. I feel they can be free to express whatever the fuck they want on their own time. Football is not going to fix racism or any other problem. Football games are not the time and place for political protest.

And if any of them don’t like this country, people died for their freedom to fucking leave it any time they want. Under true oppression, you have no such freedom.

Like it or not, when they protest the anthem or the flag, they are not protesting one thing, they are protesting the whole fucking country. Not a part, not just the bad parts, not just one thing, the whole fucking country. Insulting the whole fucking country isn’t going to make a damn thing better.

My protest will be not to give the NFL a fucking dime of my money.

Haha! I like Harrison. It would be nice to see him knock Kaepernicks ribcage from his spine even without the controversy.
