After all, under this flag blacks had to sit in the back of the bus use separate rest rooms and suffered great discrimination.

Was the American flag created for a country that was created (explicitly and fundamentally) in order to protect and proliferate the institution of slavery? Did the country for which the American flag was created last only a couple of years and, when it ceased to exist, still boast that very same raison d’etre?
No? Then they aren’t the same. They aren’t even comparable.

Huh?
My knowledge only goes back 2000 years but I’m pretty sure I’m right.
The Romans tried and failed. I live very close to the Gask line that beans mentioned. It was a temporary defensive line which the Romans then gave up and retreated from
The Vikings didn’t invade at all
The English tried and failed a few times
The Germans didn’t try at all
If however, you think that England currently rules Scotland you would be wrong. Great Britain is a Union of 3 countries, and is not synonymous with England.

No question it was a horrible time in America for black people. But (GASP)it all happened under our current flag! Good heavens how can we possibly fly that thing?
Any bets on how long it will take assholes like Sharpton, or another left wing trouble maker black or white (God knows there many of them) to scream that the US flag should be replaced?
You recognize this.
I’d bet good money it won’t be long before that distinction is lost on many people, most of them with a penchant for being loud.
Oh, I agree. I was arguing more against them than against ZEB.
No argument is left in its best form. Someone stupid (or many stupid people) will always push it over the guardrail.
So let me get this straight: A cop can arrest, beat, taze, kill, choke, etc… - or otherwise abuse a citizens rights and he ultimately keeps his job. But he posts a picture of himself wearing confederate flag boxer shorts, and he is IMMEDIATELY terminated? WTF???

Why the hell would you post that picture on the internet? People are so dumb.

I get sad inside.
I feel bad for Europe, I really do. After being held helpless to Kings and Swindlers (and getting fucked up by Germany twice in recent history) for centuries they’ve welcomed it to happen again, at any time.
What happens when the State takes away the ballot box and crowns a new King?
They have become accustomed to living with less. So long as they can have their espresso and cornetto in the town piazza without being bothered, all is well with them. Their standard of living is much less than ours. I have closets bigger than the average European bedroom, and in no time soon will you be seeing my place on MTV cribs.

Of course I agree with you. But, the PC police are on fire right now and the argument can be made. It’s just one more slide down a very perilous slippery slope and the left wants to take us as far down as we are stupid enough to allow.

Yes, and all those benevolent Kings sure gave the plebs basic human rights I’m sure…
Lmao, you have to be trying to miss the point this bad.

Tumbldr has become life, lmao. Wow
Well, of course. If you beat the shit out of a black kid, or taze him, or choke him out, or shoot him in the back, you can always claim that you weren’t motivated because deep down inside, you just don’t like black people very much. But if you wear the rebel flag on your shorts, well, that just screams “NIGGER HATER!!!”. No plausible deniability for you OR your department.

I thought Lincoln waited for the Confederate to “fire the first shot”, thereby initiating the war?
The Civil War started with Confederate troops firing on Ft. Sumter. It did not start by Lincoln sending Federal troops into the South to preserve the Union. It was reactionary. If the Southern troops had not fired on Ft. Sumter, I maintain that there probably would never have been a war. Slavery would have went away but probably not for another 10 years. We would probably all speak German or Russian now. I am one of few white Southerners who believe that the South winning the war would have been a bad thing.
I am thinking of taking advantage of this and selling some flags out of the back of my truck in the local Walmart parking lot this weekend. I should make a fortune. I am disappointed that you guys didn’t like my confederate flag bikini meme though. Still wondering about that one.

I’m not missing the point, I know what you’re saying and to some extent you are right. Just don’t paint Scotland as a historically downtrodden country, because it never has been.

Wasn’t my intention, and I apologize if you took it that way.
All peoples but the ruling elite were downtrodden prior to a (relatively recent) handful of important paper documents, supported by the blood of the lessors. Across countries and across time. This isn’t meant as an insult, but rather a warning of sorts.

ok,thanks, thats decent of you. and yes, most peoples have suffered at the hands of rulers at some stage, and yes, that is a warning from history we all need to remember
