I wasn’t sure if I should ask outside of a PM, but since you asked…
The short story is, I used to live on the west coast and now live on the gulf coast. Gear was easily attainable in cali. and now is not. I have a friend that still lives there and is willing to ship some too me.
Having never had to do that, are there steps that we can take so I won’t get in trouble? I assume it’s illegal to ship substances like that. He’s not going to put any of his info on the package, but i’d like to avoid any problems on my end.

I searched the site and found info on purchasing gear from international sources…but couldn’t find anything about shipping within the states.

I assume it doesn’t have to go through customs within the same country, so shouldn’t it be fine. If anything gets seized for some odd reason, you don’t get in shit, you get a letter.

Domestic shipping is the Best and my feelings the only way to go… I wouldnt worry about it at all…

I was thinking the same thing, no customs seems like it should be ok. One other thing I just thought of too, is if my buddies name isn’t on it anywhere, and he sends it to a fake name but the right address that should cover us both I think. right?

does everyone elses responses take a long time to show up on the thread? I wrote that last one way before you replied kuchforu and it didn’t show up until after yours came through. it’s not a big deal, just confusing sometimes.
At first I had to order Overseas and man it was so stressful… I would wait 2-3 weeks for a pacakge, and the really scary thing is ordering Overseas they really dont try to disguise the package, all it would take is customs opening the package and boom there it is…
I am thankful for this site, it has helped me so much, cool people, good threads, just a top notch site…

One more quick question if anyone feels like giving some more advice, I was just informed that some of the gear is expired, any thoughts on using expired stuff? it’s about 10 months to a year past the expiration date.

If it’s not over a year old it should be fine. Also, ask to see a picture of it. This is a picture of crashed gear, if it looks like this don’t buy it. It can happen when it gets old.
I have a buddy who ships through DHL. He has never had a problem once. My advise would be to use DHL if at all possible, as they inspect/seize products much less then some of the other carriers.
Before I started this thread I searched and searched the site and didn’t find what I was looking for, but did read something that suggested using the USPS. If you’ve got experience using DHL though I appreciate the advice.

Maybe, but who wants to pay to ship DHL when you can ship UPS for much less. Either way your taking a slight risk.
Yah, either way you’re taking a slight risk. But I’d certainly be willing to pay a couple extra bucks to hedge against the chance of loss/seize by going with a company that has less of a reputation for intercepting items.
Get a po box and send it using a made up name when you receive it write RETURN TO SENDER on it and let it sit on the table for a day. Either way you’re fine.
