I’m new to TRT and I’m having a lot of trouble with reactions to the injections. I’m getting quite concerned that I may not be able to continue with the therapy and any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’m very new to TRT, to injecting, and I’m prepared to be told I’m a fool if I’m doing something very silly here. Thanks in advance, everyone!
Dosage
100mg x 2 times/week. My low T is doctor-diagnosed (related to a pituitary tumour) but I’m self-medicated.
Medication
CypioTREX 350 mg/ml by Concentrex. The product seems legit and has authentication codes which check out. I’m not sure what type of oil it is but I’ve emailed them to check. I’ve also tried another maker/product and had the same reactions.
Allergies
I’m not aware of having any allergies at all.
Hardware
27g 12mm one-piece insulin syringes.
Subcutaneous belly injection
I have plenty of belly fat and read that small needles and subq injections make the process a lot easier, so I started with this. I inject slowly, have a steady hand, and there’s no pain immediately following the injection. 2-3 days later, the injection site becomes swollen and bruised. After a few weeks of this my belly had a ring of painful blue/black bruises and swelling. Weeks and weeks later, the bruises haven’t completely faded.
Intramuscular thigh injection
I moved to IM injections using the same needles. The injections feel painless until 2-3 days later when I have a large, painful lump at the injection site. It’s painful to the point that I’m limping and can’t sleep on that side.
Intramuscular deltoid injection
Same needles, I started injecting in my deltoids. As with subq, the injection site was fine until a few days later when it swelled up. Several times there has been more severe reactions (see below).
The worst reactions
The last 3 weeks I’ve been alternating left/right deltoids. Twice, my arms (shoulders and extending down biceps) have ended up hugely swollen. Not just the injection site, but my entire shoulder/arm looks a lot bigger from swelling. They’re very sore and hot at the injection site. For 2 days I also experienced flu-like symptoms. I was worried that it was an infection but I’m not sure that’s the case. I’m injecting in sterile conditions with clean needles and the swelling/unwell feeling resolved itself in several days.
- Maybe the flu-like symptoms are a coincidence and I’ve actually been sick. Maybe not.
- The second time, I accidentally hit the injection site very hard on the corner of the car door on the 3rd day following injection. This seemed to make it blow up right away. Perhaps that’s a coincidence and it was going to happen any way.
