Wow. Can anyone NOT be upset when the cops looking for a WHITE male 5’11 end up beating up a 16 YEAR OLD FOUR FOOT ELEVEN HISPANIC KID who was scared and RAN TO HIS PARENTS?!?!
How would you feel if you were told “shut the fuck up, you’re lucky we didn’t shoot him”?
My step son who is 20 and I have raised since 6 has downs. AC I would have my own prison stories to tell cause I would be kicking somebody’s ass if they touched him.
Absolutely. Bless you, DJ!
Reminds me of this shooting in Denver that happened while I lived in CO. Cops shoot a mentally disabled kid who had a knife.
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/2558560/detail.html
Turns out the officer who shot that kid also shot another mentally disabled kid the year before who had a knife too, but a pocket knife.
I agree the institutionalization of LEOs is messed up. Makes it so the only watchdog over the police seems to be the newspapers.
What ARE the requirements for getting a job as a LEO in the US anyway?
Edited. Me not write so good.
SkyzykS wrote:
Well, obviously the kid did something. After all he was in proximity of something which makes him just as good as if he actually did something. Why I learned that right here in this thread!
That, and police actions are their own justification. If you were as good at circular reasoning as they are, you would know that they don’t take actions that are not justified, with justification being the fact that they took action.
See?

Are you implying that police should not make arrests unless a criminal is caught red handed then? Silly US, supporting a court system designed to judge guilt or innocence all this time!
Police:
- Respond to crime scenes or suspicious activity
- Use judgement in assessing the situation, gathering of evidence (insert probable cause debate)
- Make arrests when warranted.
This is not rocket science. When a cop shows up on a crime scene, he knows jack shit about it except for what he heard from dispatch. It is his job and duty to assess people nearby for potential involvement.
Once an arrest is made, the court system takes over.
Unfortunately mistakes are made, as in your case with the Applebee story. The cop in question was still doing his job however and doing it appropriatly.
When a cop oversteps his bounds and abuses the law and the authority given to him by the law, he becomes a criminal and deserves to be arrested too. Nobody denies this.
Your blanket statements and intentional ignorance on the matter are painful to watch though. If an African American robs a home, does that make all African Americans criminals by default? Of course not. The same logic is applied here.
Serious question here, I honestly am curious and hope for an honest response. What is your highest level of education? How did you perform in grade school? On standardized tests? Your IQ level? Are math, science and logic in general difficult for you?

Sickening. Absolutely sickening.
Poor kid.

Currently enrolled, 4th semester of an engineering program.
Grade school- Phenominal. Always in the 99th percentile on all categories of all standardized tests, IQ was last measured at 160, and in preceding tests was consistently similar.
I’m pretty good with math and logic too.
Look, I understand that it is important to you to feel that you have a leg up on people, but I really don’t give a fuck.
You should probably try this with someone else. There is no satisfaction to be gotten here for you.
If it makes you feel any better, you make a lot more money than me, and have led a much better more privileged life.
There, feel better now?
(although, your ability to detect sarcasm sucks)

I literally despise these types of threads because they do nothing but bring out the worst in people. Look at this thread. A ton of people saying “F YOU!” to every LEO out there when a lot (if not most) are probably good people.
A lot if not most are probably good people is the problem. I’m sure they are are good people. I am friends and family with cops who are “good people”. But if they EVER in their career witness or hear rumor of another officer violating someone’s rights and they FAIL TO INVESTIGATE OR REPORT IT OR OTHERWISE ACT, then that makes them COMPLICIT and part of a never ending insidious cover up. Those “good people” can do bad things (or fail to act). I think that is what we have a problem with.

AC the above requires a level of intelligence, reasoning and critical thought that some here seem to be lacking.
Yep, you. You never debunked shit. You merely stated an opinion in direct contradiction with laws and court cases. Calling the sky green doesn’t make it so.
You’re still floundering. Your prior posts do not demonstrate a practical knowledge of the references you’re shoplifting. Do you want to discuss the error of your prior posts? Because that is where the error lies, not in your references. Try to keep up…I’ve said it more than once.
I want you to debunk the laws and court cases that clearly demonstrate your outburst is factually unsound.
There is nothing I said that is factually unsound. Do you just make this stuff up?
I don’t take exception to the references you provided. I take exception to YOUR understanding and application of them as demonstrated in your prior post about the Applebee’s incident. I see you keep moving the goal post away from those posts and some others you made about “reasonable cause”.
C’mon, stay on topic; let’s discuss your posts. Let’s discuss how you stated that leaving an open business establishment is “suspicious” such to warrant a traffic stop (it is not). Let’s discuss that you think “reasonable cause” equals “because the officer thinks so” or has a feeling or something to that effect.
At the end of the day, I oversaw the handling of these matters until conclusion and you just read some wiki references. I’m really not too interested in this “debate” unless you can get back on track, and stop backtracking. Let’s start back at Applebee’s shall we?
HoustonGuy wrote:

You stated that leaving Applebee’s during business hours is “suspicious” and warrants a traffic stop. POST A REFERENCE TO SUPPORT THAT POSITION.
You also stated, in so many words, that an officer’s “feeling” or opinion or whatever constitutes “probably cause”. POST A REFERENCE TO SUPPORT THAT POSITION.
I WANT TO SEE THE COURT CASE WHERE A LEO LEGALLY SEARCHED A CAR BECAUSE HE “THOUGHT” (WITH NO OTHER EVIDENCE) THERE WAS DRUGS INSIDE.
I’m waiting…

NO!
I’m sure some of them are nice guys! I mean, surely, somewhere in that department, there is a “good cop” who is completely clueless to the proclivities of his fellow officer’s concerning violating civil rights and breaking the law he is sworn to uphold. That “good cop” works down in the basement, filing paperwork and he doesn’t read it. Just files.

I’m surprised you answered this attempted demeaning question coming from someone of lower intelligence that is just clueless enough not to know he’s not the smartest guy in the room right now. Kind of like the fish at the poker table. You have to be competent enough to even know you’re the fish.

Do you think that the very nature of the job almost “forces” men (and women) to become this way?
By that I mean: Is dealing, day in and day out, with the worst parts of our society, with always being at risk of being a target, with often being physically attacked, etc. simply too much for the average person to experience without becoming “a dick?”
I deal, day in and day out, with the worst parts of our society and despite being at risk of becoming a target I do it with compassion and good humor.

LOL.
But you know, if you’re basically giving the job to uneducated fools and paying them peanuts, don’t be surprised if they act dishonorably.
It must be fucking scary to be pulled over by a state-licensed, underpaid and unhappy idiot with a gun.
Something you complain about today, will likely be something you’ll really need tomorrow.
Just saying.

My apologies for the “probably”, it has probably been posted more than once. My “smartphone” auto correct feature isn’t very smart.

Congrats if true. I’ll take your word for it but now I know you are intentionally blustering. I almost would have preferred the alternative.
For what it’s worth, you’ve got me beat on the IQ. And you tie pretty much all of the world’s intelligent elite. Very, very, almost unbelievably impressive.
We are pretty on par for every thing else though.
But you may be right, my sarcasm detector could be dysfunctional. So much of communicating is lost when reduced to type. In which case you are actually a retard. Which is ok too.
As far as money, I know what engineers generally earn, and you are correct.
God this is fun! I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be a guest on the Jerry Springer show. Just let it all hang out. A thread dedicated to fucking cops has to be as close as it gets online.
Delightfully trashy. I’m having fun Skyz. Don’t quit on me.
