Serenity & Firefly

Joss Whedon is writing a Firefly comic book that will cover the “early days” (pre-movie).

The Firefly series is much more entertaining. However, nothing beats out Battlestar Galactica.

Shaw, rumor has it a new Serenity DVD is coming out soon. A bunch more stuff is supposed to be on it. I just bought the series for $20 (reg $40) at BestBuy.

Serenity was great, I need to watch the Firefly DVD’s sometime soon.

Shiny!

(Nice to see you back…if only sporadically.)

Was diggin around and found this thread.

Firefly/Serenity was fantastic on every level. Concept, characters, acting, dialog, humor etc.

Incidentally, Joss Whedon said in the Battlestar Galactic season 4 preview special that BSG was one of the best TV shows in history and was he and his wife’s favorite show.

Speaking of which I left the BSG Sci-Fi channel marathon on all week while I was working and have a renewed interest. I liked it before, but I now like it even much more. They have a big task tying up the story in only one more season. The end of season 3 and last night’s season 4 premier opened a giant can o worms not too much smaller than the one Lost is dealing with.

I loved firefly and serenity. Fox really screwed that show over with their schedule changes.

Spoiler***********

I hated that they killed off Shepherd and and Wash in Serenity. I also disliked the fact that they barely gave Shepherd any time in the film as he was on of my favorite characters.

I would’ve liked to have learned more about Shepherd Book’s past as it was hinted at that he was a former operative a couple times. His contacts in the alliance and his conversation with Mal when they were hiding.

Paraphrase:
Mal: “Curious how you know so much about how they work.”

Book: “I wasn’t always a shepherd Mal”.

Mal: “You’ll have to tell me about that sometime”

Book: “No I don’t”

Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburn: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Capt. Malcolm Reynolds: Define “interesting”.
Hoban ‘Wash’ Washburn: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we’re all going to die?

I’m gonna’ have to get out the ol’ Firefly DVDs today; been a while since I watched.
I loves me some Kaylee. Female engineers drive me wild.

Mal: “Just get us on the ground!!”

Wash: “That part’ll happen pretty definitely!!”

“I am a leaf on the wind, watch me soar”

Mal: This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight turbulence and then - explode.

Wash dying was pretty shocking. I didn’t see that coming at all.

I liked the movie better than the series.

The series failed so badly though because episodes were shown out of order and airing times were changed.

The series wasn’t a fail – not by a long-shot.

It was FOX that fucked it all to hell.

Yes, FOX screwed up a good thing.

Issue #1 of “Better Days” is out; first of a three-issue storyline by Whedon in which the crew comes across a BIG haul and has more money than they know what to do with. Check it out in your local comic shop.

Nothing beats the laid-back Washian humor of “And we shall call it…this Land!”

FOX has a track record of screwing up good shows, who remembers Space Above and Beyond…from the creator of X-Files?

Kaylee (Jewel Staite) is the new doctor on Stargate Atlantis this past season. It took me a while to figure out who she was. She’s still hot.

Inara (Morena Baccarin) became the evil super villain on the last seasons of Stargate SG-1.

That show was great.
