Thanks to everyone for the kind words, including those of you who PM’d me.

First of all, I’ll never EVER be able to understand those who can nonchalantly state that 9/11 “doesn’t affect them.” Sure, that is truly your own opinion to hold, and I can’t take that away from you, but I hope that you are in the extreme minority.
That said – I broke down and cried while watching the recaps of 9/11 today. I normally don’t admit that – Hell, I AM a T-Vixen –
but I couldn’t believe how deeply everything struck me – five years later. And it made me realize that we should be looking at these pictures more often. I feel like the mainstream media shields us from this, from the reality of seeing it over and over. I used to think it was because we’d become numb… but after feeling so deeply shaken today, I’m not so sure.
Everyone has their own way of greiving, and perhaps you don’t want to see these pictures on your TV screen. But it strikes me that the country that proclaimed “Never Forget” at the top of their rooftops for months after 9/11 has done exactly that – we have forgotten.
God bless those who lost their lives that day. I wish that the whole nation could remember what it felt like to be unified, to be resolute and to be truly American.[/quote]
I have to agree with you NorskGoddess. This thread started out as something to reflect upon and truly honor those who lost there lives that day. What happened in this thread is a shame. This is the first time I have ever posted anything on T-Nation, mainly because I don?t have the time.
My condolences to all Americans as well.
I couldn’t write before on this because I was searching for the words…
What we have to understand is the attack was not AMERICAN specific, rather what America represented. Those that oppose freedom of speech, Capitalism and quite frankly the “Western” lifestyle. America has always been known to be on top of this and every immigrant that goes to America believe in the “American Dream” because they see it happen, so America became the target to “make an example out of”.
Unfortunately for the terroists, this backfired, because it brought on a whole different hurt nationally for the Americans and an awakening for the rest of the world. So we are thankful by example that the Americans have freedom of speech and allowed to voice their opinions which some may not be popular as seen here however you should be polite when in someone else’s home. So keep in line with the topic and keep your negative comments to yourself, even if only one life was lost that day it was one life too many.
I hope I didn’t offend anyone, it’s the best I can do at this time.
Peace to my cousins down south of the border…

But as I read this thread from Iraq about something as powerful as 911 is in my mind can be so distant and dismal in others. When the towers came down I was on a plane five hours later heading to Afghanistan. Where I stayed until 2003 hunting, killing and capturing anyone who had anything to do with the death of our innocent. I came home for 30 days only to go to Iraq, where I have been since.
I have missed a death in my own family and buried four of my fellow soldiers since. As for myself with the grace of God I will be home finally next year. I said all this not to brag or have a good story but to remind those who do remember 911 or who lost someone in 911 that there are still some of us left that are still fuckin pissed off who are doing everything in our power even if it requires are last breath to bring all those responsible for that day to judgment.
We will stay the course!! To those who used this post for its intended purpose, thanks. There were a lot of good things said and some good sharing too. For those who used this as a political forum, shame on you. You missed the whole point! Its your right as an American to have any view you want, in fact tomorrow from Iraq I will defend you to the death so you can have ignorant ass view you want!
