Semen Analysis and HCG Questions

GM guys-

First of all thanks to many of you who have educated me over the last month on TRT. A lot to get up to speed and not to mention there’s so much bad information out there.

In any case, I have started 120/mg per week and doing shots 3x per week (.2ml each time). Feeling pretty good and it’s only been 10 days. I went to see a Urologist and they are also starting me on HCG 350IU 3x weekly. I start the chemistry mixing experiment tomorrow.

They also want me to get semen analysis done which I have an upcoming appt this week. Doc said let’s see if there’s any fertility available to save. Not sure exactly what that means.

My questions are:

  1. If it appears that I’m now sterile from using 5 years of Androgel, then should I just not do HCG going forward?
  2. If I’m still fertile, is it worth freezing sperm just in case I want kids (I doubt wanting kids, but you never know)
  3. As you all have taught me, a lot of these docs don’t know sh!t so any other advice or protocols that are available that I should be considering?

Thanks in advance.

You likely have low fertility after five years on testosterone, however, you’ll need to give the hCG some time to see if it will work. Most of the guys I see are able to successfully conceive between two to six months after starting hCG.

That’s always an option. If hCG is not effective, you have that as a back up.

This is an odd question considering if you’re infertile you’ll need HCG or clomid to have kids.

It’s an option.

I think the anti-doctor talk is exaggerated.

Which doc is giving you the TRT? Is it this same urologist?

Yes, same urologist providing both TRT and HCG.

I see what you mean by odd Q. It wasn’t clear to me that HCG can actually reverse the process of being sterile so I take your point now - maintain HCG to basically restart fertility and maintain.

When this is not enough, FSH injections are needed.

Semen analysis came back as “low semen volume; otherwise normal.” Wondering if it makes sense to freeze now as I might be getting some sides from the HCG.
