Because you come off as sort of sheltered or isolated or something. The “same 10 people” have met the horror shows you describe, but have found them to be few and far between. Whereas you seem to encounter extremely limited diversity in terms of lifestyle choice and level of satisfaction.
When anyone provides any type of external evidence you dismiss it outright.

I am very sure YOU posted the national average after he posted numbers that were WAY ABOVE the national average, which would make what he is claiming now the exact opposite of what actually transpired.
He claimed they made $60, $70, and even $80k and the average nurse makes $44k. He also brought up police officers saying something like (paraphrasing) and what do cops make? They make slightly more on average as entry-level police officers without the debt burden that often comes with a college degree.

I bought two tall boys at the gas station on Friday. One Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA and one Goose Island IPA.
The hipster running the register asked what the difference between them was. I immediately became concerned that he wanted to discuss beer and most likely craft beer, so I lied and said I didn’t know what the difference was.
I mean, they both taste like beer, which is to say they taste good to me. I don’t understand how anyone can answer a question like that in terms that mean anything to other people.
The point I’m trying to make is that a lot of people use words when they’d probably be better off not using them.
I’d have gone with the trusty “well, one is made by Sierra Nevada, and the other is made by Goose Island”.
