along these lines, somewhat of hijack…
if you got into an altercation with another guy and he was looking pretty banged up, like really banged up and there were no witnesses around, would you call the cops knowing they are going to arrest you? Or would you high tail it out of there?
If the guy was already dead, would you take your chances with getting away with it or would you hand yourself over?
Probably a far better idea to call the cops and then don’t say a damned thing until you have a lawyer by your side. If nobody is there, it will be your word against his that it was self-defense, and you called the cops so you don’t look as guilty. If you bolt and they later find you, you are probably going to jail for a very long time. And in this day and age, there are all sorts of ways to find you, witnesses being the least of them.

weird…obviously there weren’t a lot of details so it’s hard to form an opinion, but somebody makes a really good point on that site. they point out manslaughter for driving causing a death, why not this? i dunno…
we just had a case similar to this where i live, but the idiot gangbangers got charged with burg-1st (due to opening a car door and assaulting somebody that caused their death) which still means 20 years in prison…

Depends. If he jumped me and tried to rob me at knifepoint and he got “banged up,” I sure as fuck wouldn’t call anyone.
And being as I’m hardly qualified to tell if someone is dead or just faking it, I’d have to say I’d just mosey on outta there too.
