On a related note, I have yet to meet a person who is racist who is actually intelligent. And it’s certainly not a bias of perspective, meaning…I will know a person for some time before it’s revealed to me they are racist and they are the dumb ones.

Apathy is the end of racism. Hating on racism is still giving it the spotlight, and pushing those who have racist tendencies to the dark side. Whatever happened to just assessing an individual based on their accomplishments and stuff? I know…hurts your brain doesn’t it?

Also I do not know much of Canada’s history but how prevalent was slavery there? This may have a lot to do with it.

Racism is natural. It’s simply part of judging a person before you know him. It’s part of survival. As animals our instincts are to judge people and situations immediately so we know if it’s potentially dangerous. Most people are bigots in one way or another. It doesn’t have to be race. You could see a fat person and judge them immediately to yourself. Acne, braces, a foul smell, a funny accent, odd clothing, a car, a purse, hair, glasses, a booger dangling out of someone’s nose are all little triggers of judging a person.

I’m trying to make the point that “hating racists and racism” is a hypocritical and futile exercise. Most people judge other people regardless of race immediately and they may not even realize it. Keep it in mind next time you’re out and see strangers. Make a conscience effort to hear what you’re thinking. It’s just human nature.

With that said, racism is still wrong. I’m saying it’s natural and making an effort to hate racists is just as bad. I also think racism has become entirely too vague of a word. MLK talked a lot about wanting to be judged based on the content of his character and not his skin. It seems like anymore anytime someone is talking about someone being racist the things that were said were not based on the color of anyone’s skin. It was based on actions. That is not racist at all. For example, if I see a black person I make no judgement based on that. If that black person has his pants around his knees I judge. I try not to, but I haven’t been proven wrong with thinking that person is ignorant, yet. If I see a white person I make no judgement based on that. When the mouth opens and I hear something vaguely English and see no teeth, I judge. Again, I try not to, but I haven’t been proven wrong with thinking that person is ignorant, yet.

One thing I do judge without regards to anything is if a person drives a PT Cruiser. I assume that person is a complete and total moron and is a terrible driver and a danger on the road. Of all the years I’ve been driving and all the PT Cruisers I’ve seen, I have never ever been proven wrong with that assumption.

Judging people on previous experience is not racist. People are all the same and most are morons. You pretty much know what to expect from someone once you see what they’re wearing, how they talk, and how they behave. Judging someone based on color is racist. I do not judge based on color. I am not racist. Judging based on experience is completely and totally natural and is in no way racist.

Wow. This isn’t my argument, but I do have to say that “racist” jokes are funny. It’s part of embracing the differences in race and culture. Your first hint is that it’s a joke. There’s nothing wrong with that. It is wrong to treat race as some sort of taboo subject. It’s ok to talk and joke about it. Without humor, what is there?
