Yes I do think the McCain/Palin camp would have spent less. I think one of the problems with McCain and Palin is that John presented himself as somewhat of a crotchety old man, and Sarah was the bubbly prom queen who was uninformed and lacked intelligence IMO. Obama was smart in that he presented someone who sounded great on paper, but who is not shining so brightly now in office. He, like other presidents, fed the people what they wanted to hear, and now that he is in office is doing whatever he wants at will. Shit, they can’t even print the money fast enough to keep up with his spending. [/quote]
If only the media had done their job at least the people would have had a fair look at Obama BEFORE he had the opportunity to wreck the economy.
Far and away the number one reason given by journalism school applicants as to why they wish to be journalists is that they “want to change the world.”
Not find out the truth to the best of their ability and get it out to people, or anything like that.
No, it is to “change the world” with their so-called journalism.
So very much they did their job, as they see it, in the election.

Journalists peddle sensation, and there is no sensation in the status quo. All politics aside, what makes a better story, first black president or white lifelong politician as president? I think had the race been Colin Powell v. Joe Biden we would have seen a more “conservative” slant.
I’m not sure: there is a bias among many in the left that a black who is conservative does not count as being black.
E.g. Clarence Thomas and Condoleezza Rice.
Powell earned approval from the media only from bucking the Republican party or agenda when he did. Had he BEEN the Republican Party head, I suspect he would have become “not really black.”
That is insane (IMO) behavior of the liberals in question, to consider Clarence Thomas not black and so forth, but they actually do it.
Or aside from the not-black possibility, look at how the media treated Clarence Thomas. Would Powell have had it better?
Wtb a real fiscal conservative. One day, one day… The government just seems to be like a kid with a credit card, running it up, it’s only debt right? Max this card out and get another. Running a deficit is necessary for GDP growth, but for fucks sake didn’t Obama say he would fix some of this debt? I feel lied to.

That could be the demise of Obama’s run in 2012, that he didn’t live up to what he promised and didn’t deliver the goods. He claimed change, but little change is evident. His skills as an orator will save him for only so long. The Reps are going to hound him with tons of irresponsible spending with little to no positive benefit to come out of it. Unemployment is going up, so are foreclosures, you have Joe Biden saying they misread their information about the economy, lots of stuff. But, George W Bush was reelected so nothing is impossible.
what has been said is that sarah palin resigned because she was tired of being in the media spotlight, but what she doesnt understand is that resigning will only partially remove her from it.

Agree!
The press followed her out into some bay or lake that supposedly is out in the middle of nowhere!
Also…Palin must have REALLY pissed Bristol’s Baby Daddy off (Levi Johnson)…because that guy is not easing off the Palin family in the press.

I’m no fan of Balin Palin, but I don’t think that Ricky Hollywood is the most credible source.

If that was really her intention then she is less equipped for national politics than even her most rabid critics allege. Number one, only an idiot would believe that resigning, after last years campaign, would do anything except bring 10 times more attention than she was already getting.
Number 2, this has been a Sunday school sing along compared to what would happen if she were ever to run for national office, especially if it were for president and especially especially if she were to win the GOP nomination. Very funny indeed. She thinks this is tough?
I agree, Push…and if we are to believe her, I’ll say it again…she was WAY over her head.
I doubt that there are ANY of us (myself included!) who haven’t gotten a wake-up call when the reality of a situation kicked our idealism square in the ass.
She doesn’t need politics, and never did. She’s much more fulfilled in other ways, unlike many of her harshest critics who seem to not get that.
My point is that while she may be saying that there is a lot more to Life…she also relished in politics (or at least “change”?); of “saving” Wasilla and its budget; of being the one to take on Alaskan politicians and “the Bridge to no where”; of turning down the use of a State Government plane; and eventually agreeing to do the same in Washington with her fellow “Maverick” McCain.
I think that she was honest and sincere with her initial enthusiasm, until 1) her critics went biserk (as you pointed out) and b) the Alsakan Politicians took off the gloves.
Then it was all over, and no longer worth the time and effort.
