The article is partially based on the CBO findings. There method that led to their “findings” have received a lot of criticism. Here is but 1 http://www.thenation.com/article/cbo-report-will-minimum-wage-hike-really-cost-jobs/ So read,re-read, then read again. In addition the article makes a complaint that politicians look at the immediate impact without regard to future costs. Sounds a lot like corporations moving overseas for immediate impact for profits at the cost of American jobs. How patriotic? But capitalism will eventually eat itself when wages are depressed to a level where no one can afford to buy their products or service . An internal conflict of capitalism brought to light.
Market freedom is a myth. Externalities are usually never factored in. Capitalism has serious systemic issues that are beginning to seriously fester under the surface. And why did the U.S. do economically best when taxes were highest on individuals and corporations? Tax Rates During the Best Years for Economic Growth
You made me laugh at comparing politicians to executives in the private market. You really think when a company moves operations overseas they don’t consider every aspect, outcome and repercussion?
Give me a fuckin’ break, kid. You’re outing yourself to being fucking clueless about how private businesses make decisions and comparing them to politicians is laughably naive. Seriously, go work hard in the private sector to the point where you’re making a decision or two and then come back here and make the same comparison … you’re a joke.
We know what a hike to $15/hr does:
Do you honestly expect me to respond to this garbage, again?
It only built America into the economic force that she is today…
Says this:
Then says this:
Then posts a website that ignores all the “externalities” not being taken into account. Good lord man…
Hmmmm, jee, what was happening in 1942…? Where’s the inflation adjustment? How is the complete overhaul of the tax system under Reagan taken into account?
Lol, I mean, just read the first comment, it tears the entire thing apart. Not that you’ll understand even 5% of what the author is talking about.
Are you a real person? I’m starting to think you’re not a real person. A TheRealNewz bot or something.
Nah, he’s a buzzword regurgitator - absolutely no ability for complex thought, just follows the play book … he’s a fuckin’ riot though … reading these exchanges makes me laugh and laugh …
The main concern of corporations is profit. Nothing else comes a close second including destroying the lives of the workers so that those at the top can have more. You are outing yourself as a casulty of corporate propaganda.
Have you ever thought that corporations can get more profit by benefiting their employees? In a free market people can work where they choose…If you create a terrible work environment, nobody is going to work for you. If you pay low, offer bad benefits, no training, no career progress… etc. nobody would work for you. Companies look for good workers all the time.
Companies offer employees opportunity from multiple avenues, in return the employee helps the company make money. Why is it such a bad thing if a company makes a profit?
Please give an example of a successful Marxist society…still waiting for this one.
Please explain why nearly all civilized, prosperous nations… are capitalist based societies.
Please explain when every modern attempted socialist, marxist society failed miserably.
Wow. An article by the pro-corpoate American Enterprise Institute, a think-tank who is funded by corporate donors to come out with results that benefit them. Otherwise the funding stops. An article showing the opposite in an industry that employs a lot of low end workers.
You going on tour with that routine? You’re a damn riot!!
Companies have to make a profit in order to continue existing. I don’t understand why you have such a difficult time understanding that. Oh wait, yes I do, you don’t understand business or economic at all.
They used these things called facts, perhaps you’ve heard the term.
Fantastic, you found 1 example that seems to support you. That’s called an outlier, I assume you’re familiar with that term as well?
On a more serious note, you and your ilk always say condescending shit like this, yet in the next breath parrot collectivist drivel but offer no in-depth analysis, discussion or conclusion. As if you’re trying to distract from the fence sitters from the notion that you have ZERO concrete evidence your system is superior in producing any desirable economic or societal effects, in the long term or short.
But seriously, stick around, you’re good for a laugh
How in the hellfuck do you think that life works…how is a company supposed to survive and grow without turning a profit?
Where do you work? Does your company have to make money? Do they pay you and lose money?

The moment collectivism falls apart…
Funny story - I’m on the board of a non-profit community organization (503c) and even WE have to bring in more money than we spend.
People like Zep have never been involved in any kind of functional private organization, for profit or otherwise, and have no idea what it takes to actually work to realize an idea and how it actually improves and positively impacts a community.
He, and his ilk, like to say dumb shit like “corporate shrills” and what not but have neary lifted a fuckin’ finger to help their fellow man…
EDIT: I was a little harsh on Zep … Sorry bud, You don’t know better.
Of course this was ignored.
So these companies need to move ashore to make a profit not to increase the profit for those at the top?
