Just don’t fuck with any Cartel and you’ll be fine
Just make sure you walk around in a wife beater all the time, if you do this…noone will fuck with you.
If you want be extra safe, go on the offensive!!
Get sun burned as fuck, and then take a bus to Juarez.
Walk around shirtless at night with sun tan lotion on your face and ask every guy you see with a tattoo and a bicep…where to buy steroids, or coke (cuz you’re gonna cut after bulk.)
Say this in Spanish so they understand, like the taco bell commercial, “YO QUIERO… STEROIDS… COCAINE…ENTIENDES BEANER?”
Then if he looks creeped, say “I’M NOT A DEA AGENT, I DON’T WORK FOR CALDERON!” Say it real close to his face and enunciate so he’ll get through the language barrier.
Then follow him wherever he says to go. When he asks for payment, point at your girlfriend, he’ll get the point.
I go to Ensenada a couple of times a year and cabo at least once a year. We have never had a single problem. Don’t get caught alone away from the tourist areas, and don’t be an ugly American and you will enjoy it, oh ya ditch the chick and head to the “Office” on the beach.
I travel to Cabo, Cancun and Cozumel at least 5 times per year. You will be fine. Tourists rarely see or experience any sort of violent crime. At an All Inclusive your chances of being attacked or hurt are close to zero.
The popular resort towns are hundreds of miles from the border towns.
Bottom line, don’t do stupid things with stupid people in stupid places and you will be fin in most places.
Great information.
I was really looking for anyone with experience there. I have been arrested at the border in Mexico and detained at checkpoints driving back from Spring Break. 500$ is usually enough to reenter the free world. This was all when I was in college.
We went to San Juan, PR last year and had a blast. I don’t really worry about shit just looking for info to get the familia to relax. We fly direct into Cabo so I don’t see an issue at all.
Lots of funny comments. I guess I will leave my firearms at home but maybe I can rent one there with my CHL.
Who ever asked my girl is hispanic… and we both speak some spansih.

Do you go for work or fun?
Unless you’re doing something illegal, the $500 usually isn’t necessary nowadays. The government of Mexico has been trying crack down the police and the mordida. In my many, many trips down to Ensenada, I have never once been pulled over, robbed, or even been in a fender bender.
Be alert and smart and you should be fine. Even better if you speak the language.
If you’re driving, get insurance for Mexico (they sell it anywhere near a border crossing). If you’re in an “at fault” accident without insurance, you can be jailed till you can come up with the cash. Not worth the hassle.
Don’t drink the tap water.
HAVE FUN!

Oh, and where they charge for bathroom usage, don’t try to relieve yourself on a tree nearby. Relieving yourself in public is an arrestable offense…as is public drinking (this one they’ve been known to turn a blind eye to, unless they’re looking for a reason).

Both. My wife and I own a travel company and I do the advance work for corporate groups to the big resorts.
You’re gonna die…just kidding.
Every time I have been to Mexico, I get stopped and searched on the way back. EVERYTIME!!! I have absolutely no suggestions other than stay with large groups if you can. I do know that at some of the resorts you are staying with will have excursions. They will get kickbacks of course, but they are fun.
Take care.

Tijuana is a shit hole. And not safe. I’m not even talking about the residents but about the cops. They are so corrupt it’s sickening. There’s no equal to it anywhere in the US.
5 years ago my friends an I crossed the border in a minivan. 7 of us. After 30 minutes cruising around at 3 am we decide to go home but got pulled over for no reason. The cop said since we didn’t have mexican insurance the fine would be be “eh…500 dollar”. He made it up on the spot. I call the car rental in front of him. He drops the fine down to 300 dollar. My friend in the back seat protests. The cop cuffs him, throws him in the back seat and tells us to follow him. The cop turns of the CB radio and turns on the music radio while my friend is cuffed in the back. We stop at a dark, quiet dead end.
“Eh… the car is ok now. The car is good. But the fine to take your friend back is 100 dollars.”
We paid the fine and got the fuck out of there. I’d never visit that shithole for a country again.[/quote]
About 1989 I went to TJ with a buddy and the piece of shit cops stop us and made us pay him $40 because he said I was grabbing the ass of some girl with me. Motherfuckers. One of the Mex girls we were with said you better pay and we did and I will NEVER visit that place again, not Cabo or any other city.
At least in Michigan I can carry a gun so I’m kinda safe.

Bring one of these…

…unless this guy is your drinking buddy. Then you should be fine.

Him and his older brother will be with us. It’s cool.
