Ryan's Log

Glad to have you on board man.

Good pulling man, obvi you hit 425 x 5, 445 should be easy, I know personally after a heavy all out set of deads I am shot and probably wouldnt be able to lift a heavier set of deads after. Next time.

Just wanted to post in your log to let you know I’ve been keeping up with your new log. BTW your delts look awesome in your avatar pic.

Thanks. Trying hard to get a respectable DL. I was doing wave loading (CT wrote about it recently in a live spill) i really like it. But i think i might of shot a bit high on my first wave. Oh well. live and learn.

Ryan do too much? that doesn’t sound like something you would do

Good to see you still kicking ass and pushing limits, as always!

Cable curl: 1x10, 1x9+6+5+4+4 Extreme stretch

Abs cardio: 20 sec sprint/ 90db carry 25sec/leg raise/cable crunch: 6rounds

Good workout todya. Pump was nuts. Arms too pump to even itch my face. Dips increased reps and were much stronger. 1.5x bw for reps soon. Then after the 100s i will have to get creative as the gym only goes up to that. Cross that bridge when i get to it. The cardio abs were good. Today also did a lot more yard work again same type of stuff as yesterday. Happy gym performance is increasing despite the extra work.

Couple side notes i have forgot to put in. Still doing 30-40min walking each day as a seperate “session”. ALso on shrugs/RDL/BB rows i dead lift to position not sure if others do this. So i get some extra DLs in. Just thought i would post that for giggles.

One of the biggest barriers to me putting on really much of any fat is the preception that 90% of the population has about fatter ppl. They look down on them quite a bit. There have been a lot of studies that show fat people wont get the permotion if there is also someone with the same resume but is leaner/fit. Also i have always been fairly lean and i know i am recieved well by most that i meet. I have no idea what will happen if i pack on some fat. Yes logically i know i shouldnt care, but i do. I also know logically that the poeple who would shun me or talk down because i gain some fat arent really people that i should care about but again i do. I have this terrible flaw of wanting to please everyone and dont like having ppl upset with me or look down on me or w/e. Dunno if any other skinny guys have had a barrier like this or any guys that are big now that were skinny if so words of advice. If not its all good i thought of this while walking htought i would post it to see ppls reactions

Not sure how well i articulated that as i am not the best writer and struggle to convery my thoughts well. My brain works in a way that seems to me like it makes sense but i put it on paper or writing and all hell breaks lose[/quote]

I can relate. The thing that sets me apart from others who stay fit or workout is that I am very lean and it shows off my musculature. People have always seen me in this manner. When I gain some fat on top of that, however, I just look like the guy next to me who doesn’t take traing and diet so seriously and spend $$$$ on supplemnts. If people shun you because you aren’t ripped anymore, they probably aren’t good people and worth your time. The best human beings I know don’t give a crap if they or me are ripped, skinny-fat, chubby or whatever.

Totally agree with both statements.

So i will just have to be big enough that there is not doubt clothes or not that i lift and am not like just one more person who lifts and eats well. lol

And just need to see out those that are so supraficial even though that seems to be the trend these days

Just need to pack on that much more mass then

5/23/2012 Shoulders/Traps

BB 65* incline press
bar x 20
95x10
115x8
135x3
155x3
175x1x5
180x3x5
190x2x5x1

DB 75*?? press (CT) shorter rests
40x12
50x12
55x12
60x14
50x16 (dat pump/burn)

DB lateral/Push press:
15/155x3x15/5
15/135x2x15/5

Standing lateral
30x13

Seated incline partial lateral: (nasty stretch)
50x4x25 (then extreme stretches)

Upright DB row
45x4x11

TB shrug
145x20
235x20
285x20
325x20
375x18
425x14, 12
Drop 325x14
Drop 235x16

Incline DB shrug (3 sec hold)
65x4x8

DB shrug (3 sec hold )
100x3x9

Good workout. First movement was good. Glad to be back at my normal gym even though its twice as far of a drive. Oh well Will deal with it for 8 more weeks. The DB shoulder press were nasty. My pressing muscles hate high reps so this is brutal. Slow eccentric. 1-3 sec descent. The eccentric actually got slower farther into the set. Then explode up. The superset of laterals and push press is experiemnting form stuff CT has been writing about. Havent done push presses in a long time. First set 155 felt like 225 but each set got better. Increase in reps on shrugs and had me dripping sweat. They come off the floor so got a couple reps of trap bar deads in there. 425 feels much lighter comeing off the floor than it did 3 weeks ago.

Couple programming things. I am gonna experiemnt with conan/phillipi for trap bar deads on quad day and conventional deads on hammie day. People will say its not smart and maybe its not but i like to play around. The conan DL day with accessory is much lower in volume than my normal workout so volume will be slightly reduced. I want to get my pulls into the mid 500’s. Longer term goals of 600+

Also I will going out to Cali july 3-10 to see my grandparents and aunt. So that gives me 3 weeks before i am going to do 7 days of RFL prior to my trip. Means i better be eating like crazy up to that point. SInc e i will be sacrifiicing a week of gains to make sure i dont look to sloppy out there. Also will do a copule food challeneges when i am out there so i will rebound a ton lol

In my mind, the trouble lies in the phase between being ripped and looking great with your shirt off and being big, muscular and looking great even with your shirt on. There is that “transition phase” where you aren’t ripped or have a lot of muscle mass…you just have to nut up and push through until you get all that muscle packed on.

Well said and yep i am the process of “nutting up” lolz. Funny thing is getting fat for me is probably one of the hardest things psychologically. I would rather attempt a huge Squat PR that might crush me than put on extra fat. But the ends will justify the means.

Exteme stretch OUCH!

Cario abs: 2min medium hard elyptical/Ab tri set all to failure: 5 rounds. 10min elyptical + 5min walk for cooldown

Good workout. Seems like not enough heavy work but will do the work sets by the progam. The rest might detract from it and I am also doing conan for conventional. But who knows unless you try. How can you say something wont work just looking at it on paper. I will make it work

Pretty good workout none the less. Something wrong with my hips or legs. I cannot activate my left leg doing bilaeral movemnts. Its weird. My right leg is much bigger than my left. Also if i squat to parallel i hit a block of some sort and literally cannot sink lower. At parallel my gluts/hams start firing because of my long structure so that is not what i want on quad day any way but still problems lol. Hihg rep leg work is just brutal that why i love it. I was leaving pools of sweat every where.

Working on nutting up lol

Good looking sessions! Keep adding weight and cleaning plates. The size will come.
