Seems reasonable

You understand that the satanic temple does not recognize the existence of Satan, right?

It is an organization who’s goal is equal representation of different religions in the public sphere. They are basically trolls that go after one sided religion in public areas by demanding that if there is going to be a Christian monument that there has to be a satanic monument allowed.

Oh I know. Their 7 tenants are pretty down the middle common sense. I just found the headline very funny

Yeah, the headline is an attention grabber.

I think most people would be shocked at how reasonable the 7 tenants are.

But the fact that she thinks joining the Church of Satan is her best bet for ensuring abortion remains legal is pretty funny.

Church of Satan iirc actually worships Satan. The satanic temple has had at least one court case on abortion. They basically claim access to abortion is part of their religion. That restrictions on abortion are a restriction on religion.

We’re talking in circles, @pat.

A “Roe v. Wade Type” case?

I’m not sure exactly what that means to you; but to me, it means the restrictions and restrictions to access that have been where the most recent battles have been fought. What I was saying is that these cases WILL BE HEARD, whether the court is “Conservative” or “Liberal”; and even though it’s not a certainty; a Conservative Court with be more likely to uphold these restrictions.

The same with “Religious Liberty” type cases (where someone may appear to be compelled to do something against their religious beliefs).

(Correct me if I’m wrong. Haven’t most of these “Religious Liberty” cases been argued successfully, @thunderbolt23 and others?)

LMFAO. That’s just amazing right there.

You keep saying that, as if the Constitution mandates a Senatorial rubber stamp on the nomination. Does that mean the Senate GOP didn’t follow the Constitution by refusing to allow a vote on Garland?

No one seems to be able to explain this.

We need a moratorium on white women until we can figure out what the hell is going on.

One has to marvel at the symbolism.

No chance in hell we ever figure that one out.

I think a semi-permanent break from white women who write for Huffpo would be unobjectionable, regardless of your political stripe.

I said it one time - in your quote.

The constitution gives the latitude to fill even the USSC vacancy at the senate’s whim.
Satisified?

Do you think judicial matters are better served today, by not filling open positions?

Or they could just call abortion what it is, murder. Because that’s what it actually is.

The senate is allowed to refuse a nominee. They could refuse Trump’s nominee, too. If the senate were majority democrat, they would refuse Trump’s nominee and it would likely have been held over until at least after the election or even until the next senate sits.

Again, look at the history.

I get it, you are a democrat and you don’t like it. And if the shoe were on the other foot, I would feel the same way. This situation will likely happen again in my life time and the democrats may control the WH and the senate and I won’t like it.

As long as the law is followed, that is all that matters.

I think most people would be shocked that the tenets do not line up with their name. If you believe in satan, you are not an atheist, by definition. You cannot actually be a real satanist and be an atheist, that’s just throwing labels around.
There are real satanists who are really scary people. People who believe in and love satan.
I am sure that satan being the ‘father of lies’, wouldn’t have an issue with lying on a website to sound ‘reasonable’ as a hook to get people in to a really dark place, because it’s funny to freak people out by saying your a part of the Satanic Temple. Where you go from there is the more interesting part. Is it still a game, or do you go down a rabbit hole you cannot escape?
The Satanic Temple, as self-described are not real satanists. Real Satanists, first have to believe in Satan. That’s the first sign that something is wrong.

Agree for the most part. What if you believe in satan, but believe satan wasn’t a god? Wasn’t created by a god? Couldn’t one be an atheist then? I don’t believe in the existence of satan.

They line up with the values of modern humanism.

I am still not clear on if you think the members of the satanic temple believe in satan or not. They claim they do not.
