The last American carrier sunk in combat was the USS Bismark Sea in 1945, which was sunk by a kamikaze pilot. That was an escort carrier made as cheaply as possible, not a fleet carrier. Fleet carrier design has come a long way since then.
The last American carrier sunk was sunk on purpose by the US Navy. The USS America was commissioned in 1965 and was still floating after four weeks of target practice in 2005. They had to plant demolition charges on it to get it to go underneath the waves.
Even if a missile could penetrate the defensive space around a CVN to hit the only airfield in the world that moves at 30+ knots, it would take an awfully lucky strike to sink the whole vessel.
