Only if they think, like you, that somehow investigating someone’s administration isn’t the same as investigating them (especially since Trump is part of his own admin).
Also how does this benefit Trump? Is the new slogan “I’m not under investigation just my campaign and administration of which I am in charge of.” It’s like finding Enron fraud and going “nah that CEO was such a chill guy, he had no idea.”
"Former FBI Director James Comey will say in his opening statement to a congressional hearing that President Donald Trump told him, “I need loyalty. I expect loyalty” during a January dinner.
[…]
In the statement, Comey says he and Trump dined together privately in January. During the meal, he says Trump asked him if he wanted to remain on as FBI director. Comey says he replied that he wanted to serve out his ten-year term and “was not on anybody’s side politically.”
Comey says Trump then made his statement about loyalty.
Trump abruptly fired Comey last month."
Trump saying ‘Do you want to keep your job?’ followed by ‘I expect loyalty’ followed by firing the guy who refused to pledge loyalty (and was investigating Trump’s campaign/admin)…Speaking for myself, this sort of revelation is not driving me to contemplate suicide.
No one is as disloyal as Trump himself. He doesn’t give a shit who goes down in his administration as long as he does not. He will throw anyone under the bus to save himself. All you have to do is look at his history of massive flip flops to see that his own speech betrays him more than anything else.
I also don’t see why him having to be told he is not under investigation three different times is a good thing. Smoke surrounding all people involved with him and losing people from his administration because they are forced out or determined to have conflicts of interest is the exact opposite of draining the swamp. It’s putting the swamp in and then bragging that everyone else is stuck in it but not him.
None of this is going to make Trump look good. He’s not going to get impeached or anything like that (unless something else big comes that we don’t see) but for god’s sake surrounding himself with this type of stuff is certainly not going to make the media look bad.
Agreed. It would probably do wonders if Trump could stop leaking media friendly information like a sieve. For a guy as focused on his brand as Trump was in business, he’s really bad at it in politics.
It’s not a big nothing. There are some troubling revelations in the Comey letter. Your problem is that you think all “big news” works like it would in a reality television episode, with dramatic effects and smoking guns. In the real world outside your dad’s basement, things happen differently.
Right, but that was the point Rubio and others were driving at: he’s never been “directed”, but has he/they ever been “asked”. None of them would answer that question.
