Russia Won't Go Away

Very good and I will be very honest with you when I was 27 years old I changed my political positions on a good many things. I think when someone is in their 20’s they are formulating their political positions. That is to say that most are not doing it in their teens.

One more question if you don’t mind. Have you ever changed one of your political positions based on one of my posts?

Thanks again my friend!

Someone’s mad.

Look at my post again. He corrected his typo…three hours later.

That’s great, love the fact he speaks directly to the people instead of a team crafting his tweets

I absolutely agree, gotta find your place in the world and figure out what you’re going to give back or take.

I have, the catch to that being that you’ve driven me away from your viewpoint, which is not to say that it wasn’t a well put together argument or set of points, it simply made me realize that I simply do not agree with some of the standards you have in place for evaluating politicians.

Didn’t websters chime in with a burn the last time he mispelled counsel?

I might have missed that one. The best one, I think, was “unpresidented”.

Ha, fair enough. It seems I had the same effect on you as I did my wife when I launched into a one hour dissertation of why we should vacation in Vegas this year as opposed to visiting her family.

Can’t win em all.

Nice talking to you Despade and stay informed (as I’m sure you will).

Yeah…but I wish he would say the right things. Communicating your position clearly is far different than simply ranting.

You know…

Ya… I left the Republican Party primarily because of discussion on here. Registered unassigned now. The Caitlyn Jenner of parties.

Only you know why you left and I am not questioning that. But in all seriousness wouldn’t you have left anyway since you are not a Trump fan?

No. Trump is just a short term issue for me and the result of our current cultural climate. I didn’t see it at first, but I get now why he was elected.

The larger issue for me is that the party no longer (maybe they never did) aligns with my beliefs enough to continue being associated with them.

I understand that the republican party no longer aligns with your political beliefs. But one more question if you don’t mind. Which of the two major parties align best with your political beliefs? That is to say which is closer…or is it a tie?

It’s hard to say, really, but if you put a gun to my head, probably the Republican party because I agree with very little of the Democrats platform.

One of the Trump administration’s first decisions about the fight against the Islamic State was made by Michael Flynn weeks before he was fired – and it conformed to the wishes of Turkey, whose interests, unbeknownst to anyone in Washington, he’d been paid more than $500,000 to represent.

The decision came 10 days before Donald Trump had been sworn in as president, in a conversation with President Barack Obama’s national security adviser, Susan Rice, who had explained the Pentagon’s plan to retake the Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa with Syrian Kurdish forces whom the Pentagon considered the U.S.’s most effective military partners. Obama’s national security team had decided to ask for Trump’s sign-off, since the plan would all but certainly be executed after Trump had become president.

Now members of Congress, musing about the tangle of legal difficulties Flynn faces, cite that exchange with Rice as perhaps the most serious: acting on behalf of a foreign nation – from which he had received considerable cash – when making a military decision. Some members of Congress, in private conversations, have even used the word “treason” to describe Flynn’s intervention, though experts doubt that his actions qualify.

Keep in mind yesterday’s story showing the Trump team knew of the investigation into Flynn before they hired him. That’s also on Pence since he managed the transition.

His Twitter is a hate or love thing. No one is lukewarm on his tweeting

Join the club. I don’t like the fact that the republicans have not done enough (anything) to lower the national debt. That bothers me. But what is the alternative?

I do know that when it comes to choosing conservatives for the Supreme Court and lower taxes I fall in line with the republicans. And quite honestly if you had to get right to the heart of why I voted for Trump it had to do with those two issues. I said to my wife that I thought Hillary would be miles ahead of Obama when it comes to fighting terrorism, or almost anything on the world stage. She is seasoned and I thought Bill Clinton was actually not a bad President in many ways. So…that area was not a concern for me.

But when you make a few bucks it gets tiresome having the democrats want an increasingly larger share to grow government yet even larger. And I know we needed a conservative on the Supreme Court. We both know Hillary wasn’t going to choose one.

Dang those two choices…I wanted Rubio and while he was probably four years away from being fully ready I still wish he’d have won.

Zeb, you sound damn near human in this post, looking at both sides and sounding all reasonable and what not. I enjoyed reading it as it seems to be more in line with who you actually are.

Well, thanks but that was no fun…right?
