I’d say thats part of it…But you have got to admit - Obama is a very likable guy. There is just something decent and honest about him.

You don’t get to the U.S. Senate the way Obama did by being a nice, honest, loyal person.
You cannot have those qualities and simultaneously be a successful career politician. You just can’t.
What I’m saying is that Obama is the same lying, cheating, slimeball that 99.99% of all the elected officials in DC are. He’s merely new enough that we haven’t seen his nasty side yet.
There are a few, rare honest politicians, but they generally have two things in common:
1.) They made their hay somewhere outside of politics, and ran for office late in life after they were established,

Rush is a big fan of the NFL. The remark was directed toward body art and not race. The real racists are the ones who try to bring race into every discussion. They are the people fixated on differences.[/quote]
Funny, I wasn’t thinking of race at all until you brought it up. Since you are the first in this thread to, as you say, bring it into the discussion, what does this make you?
The quote sounds like he was talking about football looking like hand-to-hand combat; something critics of contact sports have always said.
Anyway…
What bothers me is when a huge deal is made when media shit-spewers like Rush and Rosie O’Lardass have tiny little mean-nothing quotes taken out of context and blown ridiculously out of proportion for whatever reason.
What most of the nimrods who start this crap rolling downhill don’t realize is that this adds weight to said celebrities’ arguments when they say they are being unfairly scrutinized in the media, because this is one more case where they actually are!
If you’re going to bash talking heads who have made careers out of giving their opinions, attack their reasoning or their politics or at least an idea they have devoted more than one sentence to. Nitpicking like this just makes 1)you look stupid, 2) them look more persecuted.
Rush Limbaugh - like Howard Stern - generates controversy to keep his name in the headlines.
He continually plays his detractors like a tune. And just like Stern, every time someone reacts to him, in some small way that puts another dollar in his pocket.
How many of you you gents have ever even listened to his show? Then, he says you have to listen for at least 6 weeks to ‘get’ what the hell he’s saying.
I’ve listened to him since 1989. He is arrogant but good at ripping the shit out of the Libs.
One of my colleagues was ripping me for listening to him. I then asked him specifics about why he hated Limbaugh. “I never listen to him!” He said others had told him all about Rush. Laughable but sad.

That explains a lot about you and your views. Or views as fed by Rush. Six weeks? Is that how long it takes for the eyes to glaze over and brain to shut down?

I listen to Rush Limbaugh once in a while…
the two or three semi-sane thoughts he’s had in the last couple years are obscured by all the horshit that he talks…he’s like a banged-out male Ann Coulter.

Generally I think he has good points, is very keen in his political insight, and is a political lightning rod to many on the left. This is partially due to him being right on many issues w/r/t the democrat party, and being willing to say what many are already thinking. However you’re right, whatever insight he brings to the table, sometimes gets lost in the hyperbole of entertainment.
Far too many people want to compare Rush to media outlets. The problem is, he’s not a media outlet, he’s an opinion outlet. Simple as that. Tuning into his show virtually guarantees the listener that he/she will be receiving conservative political opinion :-]
Here’s a question, why is it that liberal radio shows never succeed?

I don’t think he says what many are thinking, I think he says what he’s thinking.
To give this guy any credibility as far as speaking for a specific group of people is dangerous, especially considering his overwhelming hypocrisy (between his personal life and what he says on air).
He’s full of shit in ways that I can’t even comprehend.
I understand that. But some folks give him alot more credibility than that.
Not too mention he has the legions of dittoheads who take his word for gospel…creepy shit. It’s like a cult.
Because the only people who listen to AM are old conservatives… the rest of us have moved on to the new “FM” thing.

LOL!! Guilty, except I listen to more ‘young folks’ stuff when driving high school football players around. Rush is over by then.
Note: they do actually like Sean Hannity in the late afternoons, since he has more people on who like to argue with him. And I’m NOT missing Hannity…no way!! :>
Brainiac and beautiful…what more could you want?
I DO have a thing for highly intelligent women, though, so I may be biased (Mrs HH is a university prof).

Kind of like Algore and his environmentalism.
I have however heard many a caller call in to his show and just fawn all over him. It’s usually some lady who’s talking about how he changed her life and shit. Hehe, that is rather funny. But there’s gonna be people who latch on to all kinds of weird shit to make themselves feel better.
Just look at orginized religion! :-]

Well, I’m 32 and I listen to AM talk radio most of the time during the day when I’m out and about in the truck. Any other time I just stream it online.
I actually missed most of yesterdays show so I’m listening to it right now.
“…Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it…”
WHAT THE FUC*IN’ HELL IS THIS???
I don’t see a lot of NFL games where guys beat the Holy Hell out of each other while the refs stand around. And their punishment? They get put on their little itty bitty glass enclosed potty!
Don’t see too many Brothers on the Ice, my friend. And the 1 or 2 that were got sucker punched, not only probably ending their careers, but almost killing them.
You are on a SLIPPERY slope when you, Rush or ANYBODY confines bad behavior to a race.
Rush meant that the guys who play pro ball are the toughest sumbitches on the planet. It had nothing to do with race; just that these NFL guys are ultimate T-men. Most people would simply be killed in a play or 2 if they got hit.
He explained it all on his show. You can read the transcript on his site. I have a class now, so …enjoy the hunt!
