Sorry, I didn’t see any video clips. I hadn’t heard him comment much at all about this.

I don’t think that was too whiney. He sure was squirmy up there, though. His comments were a little overly “safe”, too. I don’t think he was necessarily being politically correct as much as he was just protecting his interests. Of course he’s going to side with the players on this. He has a vested interest in the players. He doesn’t care if he pisses off Rush.
Additionally, I don’t blame Goodell for not wanting Limbaugh as part owner. If I were commissioner, I wouldn’t either. Why invite the controversy and potential situations to follow? The NFL’s not hurting for money. It’s the king of American Sports and it’s without a peer. There will be other interested buyers that won’t bring any baggage.
But in the end it didn’t even matter. It was the other purchasers that didn’t want to deal with what Limbaugh brings with him and they dropped him.

True. He didn’t get where he is by being a buffoon. Buffoonery does not make one wealthy enough to be in the running to purchase an NFL franchise. If that were the case then Al Franken would be an NFL owner, not a U.S. senator.

I am not talking about the people that actually understand what Rush is saying, I am talking about the people that hate him. My grandpa, does not agree with the man always but he loves him. My father the same way, me the same way. I am talking about the people that think Al Sharpton is a good man, the people that thinks he is a good man while he is stealing money out of their pockets, and the companies they work for because of “race issues.” I understand about the race issue with Rush, I have been listening to the man since, well for a long time. I have a subscription to his website for a while now, and I heard all about what he was saying about the slanderous stuff the media has put out there, with no backing to it at all. You know most people who say someone said something, at least find a video or audio clip of this. Not source some blogger.
Goodell does not have the power in the situation to stop Limbaugh from being an owner. And when did the NFL start doing morality checks on owners, and baggage. If that was the criteria for ownership we wouldn’t have but maybe…maybe half a dozen owners left. Goodell should have shut the fuck up and minded his own damn business, if someone wants to own a football team, and someone wants to sell a football team, and they both agree to the terms and conditions, guess what, we are in fucking America, it is called a free market for a reason.
Everybody wants to put their 2 cents in, well get the fuck over it no one gives a rats ass what you think if you ain’t got nothing of value to offer (i.e. football team, money)

Yes, Goodell does have power in this situation. The NFL is NOT a free market.

Very well said. I’m a fan of Rush. BUT I CAN admit the fact that he is sometimes radical and may not always be right and I do not always agree with him. Fans of people like Al Sharpton will never admit the fact that Sharpton exploits racial controversies as a way of fattening his wallet and getting himself media face time. It is hilarious to listen to media figures boycott Rush’s plans to be part of a team bidding to buy the Rams, and use the misnomer that he is racist as their ammunition. Why would a racist want to be financially involved in a franchise that is 70% black and shells out millions and millions of dollars per year to players? Its extremely disheartening to see reporters and commentators spouting off information that they got off a fuckin wikipedia page without ever fact-checking.

Because as owner, you have to respect and I decide what happens to you. I control you. Why wouldn’t a racist want to control the opposing race’s well being?
I don’t think Rush is a racist, but I don’t like media figures like him. He’ll bring something to the NFL that it doesn’t need: Racial and Political controversy.
@Ty Carlson: The thing is that people look at him as a reporter, he is not, he’s an entertainer first and a commentator second. The reason that people do not agree with Rush 100% is because he, yes, gets radical with stuff he says. Mostly though, the reason that is because of what I said earlier, he is an entertainer.
When he sees people reacting to what he says, he keeps it going, he keeps the train rolling, throws more coal in the fire, blows more steam, etc. If no one cared about a subject he would not talk about it, if he sees that something is not creating a reaction he goes onto something else.
Yes, the stuff he says is mostly based in truth (i.e. he looks up his facts), but his opinions are for entertainment value. And when people do not get that, that is when I laugh, even at “respected” reporters. For example, some lady today I heard her say that he just renewed his contract with EIB for 400 million dollars, and that no other “reporter” gets those kind of contracts. Well he is not a reporter, and that’s that.
@Wol: You have to remember something, if Rush does end up owning part of the Rams, he would be a minority owner. He would be going in with other people, and his buddy (the man that would be running the team as owner) will have control over the team, not Rush Limbaugh.
Also to that effect, the reason why being a racist now a days in the NFL would not be a helpful thing is that, one it’s a free market in the NFL and the other owners (let’s say are not racist) would not treat the players as badly as a supposed racist. With the NFL being a basic free market, and not have 10 year contracts and contracts only, if you do not treat your players well then they can very well go to another team. They are your employees, if you make it hard on them, they will not help you out.
They will do their time that they have to, and leave for another team. At the end of the day if Rush did make it hard on the players he would end up with an empty team. Go bankrupt, or have to sell his team. That is an economic rule. An example of that rule is TO, he was not happy, even how ridiculous the reason for being unhappy was, he left because of it.

Talk about being overpaid.
Yeah he is an entertainer which is why it seems so stupid that people listen to him to garner and build their political philosophy. Same as Glen Beck. I just watched like 5 minutes of that guy’s show and he spent 2/3 of the time acting like hes in a Broadway show.
Al Sharpton might use race to fill up his pockets but Rush Limbaugh also does the same thing with anti conservative politics. They’re both the same, they love all the media attention. The thing is there is no true “patriotic commentator” in a free market system where financial gain is the motive. A lot of the historic figures who changed the world (Martin Luther King, Ghandi etc) did so with the passion of a vision and to see that vision become fulfilled. I want to see Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck personally go to Washington and hold up those tea party signs if they truly are so “passionate” and “concerned” about the current politic situation in America. Think about this. If he doesn’t say radical things people won’t listen in the numbers they do, and if they don’t listen then whats the point of being on air if you cant get your “message” across to the public.
But then again that’s not my point. My point is that Limbaugh personally attacks people with whom he politically disagrees with. Bill Clinton is a vivid example that comes to mind. Bill Clinton has done more for people of the world today then any other person I can think of. The guy was a great president and an even better ambassador today. Yet, he and his wife got hammered by Limbaugh and they still do, all because he knows if he says he “respects” them on air hes going to lose 5 million like minded individuals who gasp at the mention of the words “democrat” or “liberal.” What level of ignorance does a man have when he says he wants the President and his policies to fail? By insinuating that you HOPE more government intervention fails you are making a fool of yourself when you say they WILL NOT work. Because they will not work under any circumstances right?
Basically hes ignorant, a pessimist, radical, and an attention whore. Its good that he got rejected.
(World needs more uniting figures than dividers like him)

Am i supposed to take your comments seriously?
Rush was dropped like a sack of potato’s by his co-investors…
"(CNN) â?? The group of investors seeking to purchase the NFL’s St. Louis Rams is dumping Rush Limbaugh from their effort after NFL executives, players and political leaders raised objections to the controversial talk show host’s involvement in the bid.
Sports media executive Dave Checketts, who is leading the group, announced the decision in a statement issued Wednesday by his office.
“Rush was to be a limited partner â?? as such, he would have had no say in the direction of the club or in any decisions regarding personnel or operations,” the statement said. “This was a role he enthusiastically embraced.”
“However, it has become clear that his involvement in our group has become a complication and a distraction to our intentions; endangering our bid to keep the team in St. Louis. As such, we have decided to move forward without him and hope it will eventually lead us to a successful conclusion.”
Geeze, it’s a football team. It’s not like he was thinking about opening up a boarding school for inner city minority youth.
He has thrived off of saying controversial things and he would probably hurt the image that Goodell is trying to clean up. That’s probably what the NFL is thinking.

Did a sheep skull fuck you when you were little, because that is just plain retarded. You think government intervention is an actual good thing? You like when the government comes into your home and tells you what to do like you’re their little bitch? You actually think what Bill Clinton did was a good thing? No people that listen to Rush are not scared of the “Democrats” or “Liberals.” How does Rush do the same thing as Al Sharpton, does Rush go to corporations and say I am going to sue you because you’re liberal and I’m going to tell the media what you did unless you give me money, does he go around to white people and say, “You’re a victim of these people because these people are liberals?”
You want a figure instead of divider huh? What like Barrack Obama, is he a figure? Guess what Barrack Obama is nothing like Martin Luther King Jr. MLK was more of a divider than he was a figure. The man spoke his opinion, he divided people because some agreed, some didn’t. There was a lot of people that hated MLK and wish someone would kill him.
