'Rumors of My Demise are Greatly Exagerated'

Intervals on the hampster wheel - 25min

PCH - 14reps

Ab and low back work.

My scale put me at sub-215 this morning. Thats 8lbs and counting. I seem to be doing something right this time. My strength hasn’t fallen off…yet.

Congrats on the weight loss. How has the diet changed?

My wife is a microbiologist and she firmly believes that some organism will kill off between 10-20% of the world’s population within the next 100 years.

No more football season…ie mega snack foods…and better monitoring of food intake via a logging program. Trying to stay under 150gm carbs a day, 30+gms fiber, 1gm protein per # of bodyweight and under 2800kcal a day for now. I also take a supplement to aid my metabolism. I may nudge both downward a bit as summer approaches. Depends on my progress at that point.

My only real weakness is desert, which I HAVE to have in the evening. It’s either ice-cream or cookies and milk. The most important thing that I do is log my food. Some people find that so anal. Those are the same ones who can never succeed at losing weight. It’s simple, not easy. I also tell them that if they feel guilty about eating, then maybe they should be looking for underlying issues. I never feel guilty about eating, ever.

good work. if you are smart about it you should be able to keep losing while maintaing/gaining strength

My wife logs her food too. A leftover from the post surgery routine.
Yesterday, she consumed less than 1,000 calories, because she panicked when she weighted herself (still weighs every morning and evening). I gave her a lecture, as nicely as possible. Can’t build an ass if your body is having to burn all the protein you ate, plus some, just to keep going.

The slight (and I mean slight) weight gain is from lifting. Old habits are hard to break, though.

I need to log my food as well. I am afraid it would give me a heart attack, though.

Just keep telling her that us lifters prefer an ‘ass’ to a butt!!! I was told my ass was getting bigger and I said ‘thank you…I’m trying’!!!

And always has been, it is a human endeavor after all. The intrigue in the Royal Society, Newton, and Leibniz…

But then that’s what keeps them honest, or at least exposes their dishonesty and/or errors, as everyone is gunning to make their name disproving or at least refining previous work.

Long live the scientific method.

Indeed! I have just become bitter, with age and exposure. All I really want from folks are two things (well, besides not being just plain evil)…1) some common courtesy and 2) to tell me the damned truth.
Anymore , everyone feels that they are too “special”, or they are just too oblivious, to exercise the former. And the latter is ignored for the sake of convenience and agenda.

I look at my autistic son, and the innocence through which he sees the world, and cringe, knowing how downright mean some folks are going to be to him, simply because he is different. And the difficulties he is going to have because he takes things literally, at face value, in a world where the truth and honesty are casualties of everyday life.

My boy was diagnosed with Asperger’s like 10 years ago. Pt, OT, GF/CF diet, and anti-fungal strategies has done wonders for him. I don’t think he COULD get diagnosed now. He’s worked hard, and such, but might just be luck…

I know with my scientific method rant, and GF/CF not passing double blinds. I read some of those (every one I could get my hands on at the time) and they included people who frankly didn’t meet the profile for people with potential to help. Experimental design is critical…

Hope your son is fortunate and keeps his strengths and can mitigate anything that might limit him. He’s lucky to have a Dad that puts himself in his shoes…

Learning to tell when people are lying, a critical social skill. The best resource I found was FBI and CIA training. It is broken down into concrete observational skills, which can be learned…

The bells at my gym only go up to 110 with no 105 in between so I’m gonna work up to 5 sets of 15 at 100 then move up to 110 and start over at 7 reps and work those up to 15. Hopefully, by then, I can talk the owner into getting some more bells, like to 150+. PCH is Pushups, Chins (full extension) and Hindu Squats (I dislike lunges)
