'Rumors of My Demise are Greatly Exagerated'

I can think of a more “functional” exercise that curls. Think of the carryover to sports like beer-drinking and various solitary male pursuits involving internet porn.

Wouldn’t that be considered ‘grip’ work?

It’s called ‘having time on my hands!!!’ And it actually seems to have some benefits as well. We shall see!!

Hey all,
A little late to comment to earlier. Visceral fat is much, much, more significant to long term health (metabolic syndrome, cardiac risk, and etc.) Fortunately, green tea extract and fish oil have been shown (double blind studies) to assist in reducing visceral fat.

One “complaint” about fat burners like HOT-ROX, is that it cuts visceral more effectively then sub-cutaneous… Oh, darn…

The snow is gone, but the chilly weather is still hanging around. I can dig the warmup but I really hate daylight savings. My philosophy is that as soon as it’s dark outside my day is over. So daylight until 10pm is BULLSHIT!!!

Lol…that I so true. I really wish they would ditch DST. It was nice in the Fall, though, back in my youth. When I used to go to bars and get an extra hour of darts and beer.

What size box are you squatting to.

Looking good Rug. I need to add some heavy squat walkouts into my program. I’d like to say our snow is gone but its snowing out as I type. I think an ice age is setting in.

Nice work, Rug.
I don’t see any millies in there. What gives?

[quote]JoeGood wrote:

I’m squatting to one of the benches at the gym. They are 15.5 (I actually measured) inches which puts me at just parallel (hip crease just below top on knee). Because I am still!!! working on a tendon problem in my right leg, I’m asscarred to free squat. I’m worried that I may not be able to reverse direction without fucking something up real bad. Hence, the box squat.

Well, I was kinda warned about doing them everyday along with my normal training, something about over-use, or over training or some shit like that. Of course, I didn’t listen!!! And bam!!! Progress came to a screeching halt. I went back to the HS machine for now. Starting next cycle, I’m putting the standing mil back in, only twice a week this time, instead of every training session. We’ll see how that works out. The only bad thing right now is I still can’t do dips, which is pissing me off because they really help out with my Mils and my bench. It’s strange because the only time my shoulder gives me any grief right now is when I try to dip. But, it is slowly getting better so I guess patience is the order of the day, month, whatever.

I wish it would hurry up. That would really screw up the global warming people

That makes complete sense and good job seeing what was going on and acting accordingly.
Dips get my shoulders too. I am not sure if it is because I am heavier now or if it is because of the shoulder issue. In either case, they are a no go.

x2 on the GW folks. I am sure they have a model that calls for an ice age, though. I think they would get more mileage out of this if they would come from the pollution angle, rather than “the sky is melting”.

I’m glad I’m not the only one then. Over here I’m afraid to voice my opinions on GW as everyone has jumped on board the green bandwagon. I’m all for recycling and renewable energy but I don’t think that all climate change is man made. There is that big thing called the sun too.

If ever I’m discussing this I always bring up the Medieval Warm Period that stumps 'em. (a period 1000 years ago when it was as warm or warmer than today, yet there was a fraction of the population, no cars, power stations etc, so obviously not caused by man). Yet I noticed the other day “new research” by climatologists is showing that it wasn’t as warm as first thought.

Funny that!, I think they’re trying to tie up all loose ends and massage the data that doesn’t fit with their theories. I thought with science you were supposed to look at the data then come to a conclusion. Not come up with a theory then try and manipulate the results to prove your theory right.

Anyway, we have had four of the wettest summers on record in succession followed by two of the coldest winters since records began, yet according to the “experts” this “blip” just proves even more that we are heading for a hotter climate and droughts!

Living in Wales I say “bring it on!”

Sorry about that, glad I got it off my chest.

I have so much more fun with the ‘sky is melting’ angle!!!
