Don’t feel too bad about Father’s Day…

Don’t feel too bad about Father’s Day…

My daughter handed me an unwrapped gift, and my son didn’t bother to remember at all. Oh well, at least I get the pleasure of working a 12 hour shift til midnight…LOL.

Happy Father’s Day J-willy!

Hope things improved after your morning J!

I got a text from my son and an email from my daughter while I was down at work - then I went and squatted at the company gym and treated myself to a solitary steak at Chili’s. Par for the course for me…

It’s Father’s Day?

Father’s Day did end up a little better. Actually about 3 pm while my daughter was in the river with some friends; the wind shifted out of the northwest and I fell asleep on the back porch. So I have to say that isnt so bad after a questionable start!

Monday morning workout

Rubber band dislocates
More shoulder rubber band things
YTWL Shoulder warm up: 8 lbs
Complex: 7 sets 8 reps

WOO-HOO!! This rehab stuff seems to be working. I put my T shirt on this morning with no pain or mobility issues. Complexes were tough. The extra sets and reps took their toll. I wussed out on the interval. I was lucky old motorcycle dude let me in the gym this morning. I guess I’ll ride over and see what I need to do to get my electronic key back working.

JW’s morning thought: Friendship is like peeing in your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth

Glad your day picked itself back up.
I need to throw in some more complexes at the end of the work outs
nice work.

Tuesday morning workout

Squat in the smith: 2x115x20, 2x135x20,185x10, 205x5, 3x225x5
Floor wipers: 25 reps
Decline leg raises: sets of 20,20, 14
Treadmill interval 20 minutes

Nothing much to report. Just trying to work up a good sweat. My access key is back working so all is well. There are about 4 high school kids in the morning now, training for football I guess. It’s fun watching them train and trying to figure out their program. I wish we had done shit like that when I was in high school. It’s kind of cool the advances in training over the years. I remember taking PE electives in college and studying about increasing athletic performance, as well as the whispers of Dynabol… It’s also funny how things don’t change…

JW’s morning mindless thought of fancy: If you’re being chased by a police dog, try not to go through a tunnel, then on to a little seesaw, then jump through a hoop of fire. They’re trained for that…

Way,way back when I played football almost nobody lifted. If they did it was just bench and curls.

Same for me Eco. We did it on a universal machine at that

I remember that machine. Had the brown benches and several stations:bench, military, leg press, dips, pullup and incline situp board.

You can’t be that much older than me…if you are. Of course, my HS might have been progressive. The head coach was also the AD and PE teacher. He was a legend in GA sports (HS and college). So, he pretty much got his way with the ball players. That meant that all the ball players had 6th period PE. Lineman lifted 3 days a week and ran the other 2. The backs/receivers had the opposite schedule.

Had the same setup at my school LS. All athletes had 6th period PE. I remember the old universal machine. Lot of leverage involved. Don’t remember ever squating but we had this 45 degree blocking type weight machine. Then there were the cheerleaders in their little outfits, thrusting breasts, tight…sorry, High School memories always seem to go down that path.

I used that same universal in college- before I got to DIV I that was all we had.

as far as cheerleaders I was far far more into the womens track team.
Spandex was big in the 80’s

Tuesday night workout
Rubber band dislocates
YTWL shoulder warm up: 8lbs
Assisted pull ups 4xBW-95x5
Kroc rows: 2x85x6, 2x95x6
Wide grip pull downs: 4x90x25
Hammer curls: 4x25x10

Little to report. The shoulder is doing better (knock on wood), at least the pulling isn’t bothering it at all. Kind of quiet in the gym last night. Just me and the steel mill cat. We were both lamenting the lack of a power rack…

Wednesday morning workout
Rubber band dislocates
YTWL shoulder warm up: 8 lbs
Barbell Complex 7 sets, 7 reps
Treadmill interval: 15 minutes

I ratcheted up the intensity of the complexes. I am hoping for some extra calorie burn. Weight loss seems to be stagnating. My diet is about the same, I have been really working to eat clean. I’m going back to the gym tonight for a chest and triceps workout. It should be fun

JW’s thought: My wife has many faults…I have but TWO…Everything I say…and Everything I do

JW, enjoying the thread - thanks.

Re shoulders, I’ve recently added some rowing on a Concept2 machine and it’s hitting what feels like “the back of the rotator cuff”, with apparent improvement in shoulder stability. If your shoulder issue originates from the cuff, something to consider…

Keep up the inspiring log.

j-willy- I have to temper reading your log. Otherwise I get fatigued just reading the number of workouts you do! Heck, I use it as my cardio…
Great work and glad to hear that the shoulder is doing better.
