You, Mr Scotland and Mr Holland, may kindly shut your mouths. Those of us serving don’t give a flying fuck about people with those opinions. You go put your life on the line for a cause, then see how it feels when someone belittles it as if they know what the fuck they’re talking about.
novocaine you obviously have no idea what the hell being in the military is all about, or you wouldn’t have wasted bandwidth posting that ridiculous “poem”.
Caveman you’re all good, as I highly doubt you are posing as a member of the military. The trousers most likely aren’t even current military issue. What OP was referring to is assholes who make up war stories and bullshit they never did, stealing honor from the people that had the balls to do that shit.
LCB good post.
Oorah devils.
Thank you hungry4more. I’d like to replace your first sentence with only one letter change:
You, Mr Scotland and Mr Holland, may kindly shit your mouths.
As I am proud to help and assist our military out here, I have always felt a bit guilty because I’ve never served
Although, when I tried to get into the Army, I was overweight and had a broken back. Now that I’m all fixed and healthy, I see some guys that are in worse shape than what I was before. That still doesn’t make them any less of a soldier, Airmen, Seaman, Marine, or Coast Guard(sorry, I don’t know what they’re called).
Now, I rake up money doing what I do. There’s still pride in what I do and all military service members are treated with the respect they deserve.

I remember reading somewhere that a soldier and his buddys were sick of random folks coming up to them and saying thank-you, we stand by you etc. They hated it. Curious to know if the OP has friends in the military who feel this way.
Maybe they don’t understand that those civilians dont’ have the guts to do what they do? Or that those civilians might now be retired or veterans? Or maybe the civilians are greatful for the part the play in protecting our way of life because can’t nobody fuck with us!
LCB as long as you earn your money by doing your job properly, you get just as much respect from me as “contract” military, you’re still involved and helping the same cause.

And if a trend is started, people will stop being disrespectful assholes for fear of their lives. The constant looming threat of getting a deserved ass-kicking tends to keep people in line. Sadly, most of our country is too bitchy and sue-happy for that to be a plausible solution in all situations.

punching people in the mouth probably seems like a great idea until you’re getting punched in the mouth.

Instead of suing, we should include a provision that states:
‘Said individual may be called out to a fight of hands covered in hemp rope, dipped in glue, then in shattered shards of glass to the person they caused any harm either physical, mental, or emotional distress, instead of being sued’. People sueing other’s is getting rediculous in this country. I’d rather just whoop that person’s ass with my bare hands, elbows, feet, chins and knee. A head-butt here and there as well. I agree witcha hungry4more.

hungry4more,
I joke above about a few things, but not about what you state to me here. I appreciate what you say and I thank you for your words. Much respect brother.
I don’t want to come off as anti veteran or even antiwar, but that line of thinking is what gets us into wars in the first place. Attack someone because what they’re doing bothers you? Because they don’t conform to what you view as respectable?
