Rugby World Cup 2011

fucking hell NZ are quality…not a top quality saffer side but still…we definitely have to beat the shackledraggers to prolong meeting the all blacks as long as possible…and that isnt too likely…

SA will be much stronger for the world cup…like england they generally do well in it

and then wales end up in the most fuckin physically demanding group ever, i dont see us getting out of it, 2 sets of south sea islanders, and the SA’s - who, regardless of whether theyre good enough to win to dam thing will sure as hell kick the fuck out of you trying to do so!! fukin outrageous.

i think its gota be NZ’s time, its a definate toss up between them and auz, but u no, england, jammy cunts they are, no doubt will be loitering around the semi final mark!!

player of the tournament will no doubt be the outside half of the winning team, so its either guna be dan the man carter or quade cooper
You got placed where you are because you are Wales, and you are shite. You need a physical battle to toughen you up!
i wasnt disputing the fact that at the moment my home nation is pretty dire, however england arent lookin too clever either 2b honest, although they have much greater financial resources as well as more players to choose from. anyway thats beside the point, i initially was making reference to the fact that ur such a lucky nation to get drawn in that pool, avoidng any “good” teams, your the best team in that pool (although based on rankings when the pools were drawn, u were a second tier team) because the other 2 “top” nations are SHIT! whereas everyone else i.e wales, ireland, france have to deal with an actual world class team in one of the tri nations teams.

It was only friendly home nations banter mate, we all know we hate eachother when it comes to sport and life in general

Im pretty sure for this world cup, they introduced previous performances in world cups towards seeding. Maybe why england got away with it? We’ve been in 3 finals, won once. It maybe was something that ‘might’ have been introduced instead of them actually going through with it. I dont know, ive only just remembered hearing it on the tv (this was years ago).

I dunno why you think england are in the same boat as wales? we played some fantastic rugby in the autumn internationals and 6 nations. we showed real promise and players really stood out. It seems to be gelling together, with the obvious hiccup against ireland a side. Wales just do not have that, judging by previous performances. But im sure england will implode and wales will beat us next week, just to prove me wrong

Just for reference… the pools:

POOL A

CANADA
FRANCE
NZ
JAPAN
TONGA

POOL B

ARGENTINA
ENGLAND
GEORGIA
ROMANIA
SCOTLAND

POOL C

AUSTRALIA
IRELAND
ITALY
RUSSIA
USA

POOL D

FIJI
NAMIBIA
SAMOA
SOUTH AFRICA
WALES

(be some sore bodies from this pool!)

haha! i just think that ben youngs doesnt play well on the back foot, since it rarely occurs in his club!
u no exactly what will happen… if england win, welsh nation will be tamping, media be all over the welsh team sayin how they are failures etc, then the team will have an epic world cup coz we’ve taken all the hype out (wales are awful with hype), and the english press will praise king jonno and think your team are going to win the world cup… and vice versa!

mind you at least we’re not kiwis, imagine the pressure from the media/country/coaches in that locker room hahahah!

also…group d. definiate sore bodies…im pretty sure samoans and fijians eat nambimbians as appetizers??

We do love a bit of hype, dont we! In all honesty, i think you beating us and us losing to you are much bigger deals than the other way round.

I think ben youngs is a bit shaky in that respect, but he can win games as well… but toby flood? i dont think so. Really dont rate him, yeah hes a solid player but so predictable. But then again, we have no other options really.

I dont think any samoan or fijian will be eating jacques burger! the man is a machine, shame he plays for a ‘minnow’ nation. He couldve been a superstar. No regard for his health and a huge tackler. I will be watching the samoa v namibia game… theyll be some HUGE hits in that game, mark my words.

Im pretty sure i heard he punched a lion as well, to save his cattle or something… lol.

Can’t see anyone but NZ doing it.Yet I’ve said that before each of the last 3 world cups.I think they’ve peaked at the wrong time again,in between world cups, and that they’ll fail to turn up to their full potential and be beaten by a team who plays above themselves on the day like France/England/Argentina/Ireland.

I think South Africa have a huge chance and really appreciate what de Villiers is doing by putting out second string sides for the duration of the tri nations. He wants them to peak at just the right time.

As for Ireland, the games in August will tell a lot.All I know is that they can’t possibly perform as badly as they did in 2007…I hope.

Either way, seriously looking forward to it and seriously looking forward to Rugby Challenge which is being released afterwards.

This I dont understand. As far as im aware, SA dont have any more games after the tri nations. If thats true, then how can they peak, when the last time they played together was ages ago?

This is another reason why i fancy AUS. Giteau (sp) hasnt even been mentioned yet. He is a complete game changing player, but pocock, cooper, genia and o connor are all ahead of him in my book in terms of game winners. He’s been pushed out of the lime light.
Giteau “is” a game changer for sure. The guy can miss from anywhere!

Seriously though, I would definitely find a place for Giteau, I just wouldn’t have him as kicker.

James O’connor has no right to be that good at such a young age.

lol! Im sure he will be 3rd choice kicker behind cooper and o connor, although cooper doesnt have great percentages.

Im pretty sure he will be the main stay 12, the attacking potential in that team is endless.

That is because Giteau has been pretty ordinary for a while now…but yeah…if he finds form again then look out.

This is why I pick Oz as the ones to fear this WC…because they have the deadly Justine Bieber playing for them!

I know dick-all about Rugby, but how is Canada’s team?

An Aussie friend of mine had the following to say about Team Canada: “You beat guys way better than you, and lose to guys way worse than you”

Dan carter will be practicing his damn kicking all week…way too many fuckin’ misses.

Top points scorer though, that’s got to be nice.

i forgot about him, yee hes a good player! surely not punched a lion hahaha that is outrageous! i love some of the mental rugby stories, like colin meads the ex all black lock who used to run up mountains with a sheep under/over each arm haha!

ive just decidded im gunna put all my cards on the table.! england to win the 2 warm up games vs wales and their group, wales to win the group, and scotland (ahhahahahahahahahhha) jokin, auz to win the whole thing! (although i may change my mind after auz vs nz this weeknd)

Both Giteau and O’Connor attended Catholic boarding schools that are renowned for producing a great proportion of the best Union players in Aus.
Jereth127 wrote:

That just made my day! On a serious note NZ are definate favourites but could easily slip up under extreme pressure. They are also a completely different team without Dan Carter so I’m sure he’ll be wrapped in cotton wool for the remainder of the tri nations games. Still do not know how Stephen Donald is second choice 10. He has been consistently crap when ever he’s been given a chance.

Australia are definitely the most exciting and dynamic team in the tournament. Their back line picks it self. Genia and Cooper are genius’s when given clean ball. It all depends on their tight five and whether they turn up or not.

Out of the home nations England will get the farthest even with the most boring centre partnership of any competing team. It would have been good to see how Andrew Allen and Tuilagi faired together in an England shirt. Can only be an advantage to have a half back and 3 quarter partership who play together week in week out. Flood and Youngs will have to do something special to make up for the lack of imagination in midfield. I played school rugby against Ben Youngs and even then you knew he was going to be something special (he was playing 10 rather than 9 at the time).
