Hey guys, this is my first post. (Had to, this is my favorite topic!)
A quote from a dirty old Kiwi rugger:
“If there is one thing I can’t stand in this world, it’s soccer. I have absolutely no interest in watching a pack of fairies kicking a ball around and watching 0-0 results after 90 minutes. I don’t want their chequebooks, their lifestyles or even the smelly old trouts they parade around as Footballer’s Wives. I am not of the opinion that a man should have long hair, and a pony tail is even worse, let alone earrings and waxed legs. Maybe I do have a problem with trying to find my more sensitive side but I was brought up on a dairy farm in NZ in the 70’s & 80’s and we shagged Sheilas and sheep, drank piss, worked hard and played harder.”
That sorta sums up my opinion as well… I vote Rugby
hahah classic! typical bloody kiwi! rugby wins easily. go the wallabies!

Personally I like both to varying degrees. I enjoy playing 5 a side soccer and watching a bit of it on TV but if there’s any sort of rugby at all on TV I’ll watch that instead!
I just mess around when I play soccer with my buddies but I play rugby properly. Our season starts properly on Sunday with our first league game, can’t fucking wait!

So, apparently YOUR country calls it football too.
Incidently, FIFA = Federation Internationale de Football Association (yes, I know this is in French and not English). So the world governing body of the sport calls it football, and they oughta know…
So, apparently YOUR country calls it football too.
The Association is called that yes, but that doesn’t mean people call it that. Just watch our TV news or listen to our radio stations, they always call them the results from the soccer matches etc.
It doesn’t matter what the world governing body calls it, I’m just pointing out that besides the British everyone else calls it Soccer. In Australia they association there calls it football too, but ask an Aussie what footie is and they’ll tell you it’s AFL/NRL or whatever.
yeah but the english invented it, along with almost every other sport involving a ball. why other countries call a game played mainly with your hands football ill never know…
i have to say that the way players dive when they arent even touched, or “simulation” as they now call it is dispicable but there are still a lot of players who are disgusted as the fans. mainly the fantastic steven gerrard who, as a liverpool fan, is my faveorite player
