Says a big, big fan.
Of the 3 latest polls that I see, Rudy’s gained in one, Hillary (despite the pundits insistance of her terrible week) gained in 2.
Guess which one Kudlow cites?
I guess Hillary is really really on a roll.

I’m sorry, I should have asked everyone to ignore the polling data cited in the article.
What is most significant is Rudy learning from mistakes and his grasp of the salient issues.
Further, the endorsement of Pat Robertson will allow a significant portion of the hard right the cover they need to vote for Rudy.
They agree with his stances on most issues.
If Rudy can get the hard right, values voters AND his social stances broaden his support, I agree with billy boy: This election won’t be close.
Rudy wins going away.
Oh, lumpy/bradley/100meters, it’s been a tough couple of weeks for you and your fantasies.
Get ready for an entire year of pain.
Your candidate stinks to high heaven.

Rudy isn’t going to win running away, c’mon!
But still, how has been a tough couple of weeks? Stock market?

I’m very serious. rodham is not nearly as formidable as you think. If you believe the weiners on the democratic side were tough opponents, wait until Rudy lights her up.
Her temper is brittle. He’ll get to her in a big way.
The Good Guys (and some of your pals) smell blood in the water.
Oh, I’m waiting for you to blame the current stock market dive on W.
Don’t disappoint me.

JeffR, what’s your take on the Kerik debacle? I think McCain has got Rudy pegged. This got me thinking…
Out of the big 3 (since I’m not counting Thompson since I marginally like the guy), I softened a little towards Romney when I put the Kerik thing in perspective. I’ll obviously never vote for Romney because I think he’s a socialist in secret Mormon underwear, but when Romney panders, I think it’s genuine. You can buy Romney, but when he’s bought, I think you actually bought him for keeps. With McCain or Rudy I see someone who panders to you and you THINK you bought him, but he will turn around and do what he feels is politically attractive at any given time.
All this said, I concede it’s more of a gut feeling than something I can back up.

Mike,
I think Rudy is guilty of having a loyal streak.
That may lead to a blind spot.
However, he did man up and admit his mistake.
I remember earlier in the campaign where several questionable associations were brought up.
If he’s cutting the driftwood now, it will help him in the general.
In my heart, I don’t see anyone “buying” Rudy. If that was so, he would have renounced his abortion stance to pander to the far right.
He reminds me of a junkyard dog. Plenty of political/personal battle scars. Wrong turns in the past.
BUT, this guy learns from his mistakes. He appears capable of forming consensus. Reaching out to people who disagree with him. Getting results.
In this political climate, that’s pretty rare.
Finally, I like the idea of broadening the Republican base. I want people who have never seriously considered voting Republican, giving him a second look. I want to be competitive in the blue states/coasts.
JeffR
P.S. Sorry about the rant. I’m pretty excited about Rudy and what he represents.
P.S.S. I agree with your Romney assessment. He reminds me of a used car salesman.
He’s on track for the Repub. nomination, but will get run over by Clinton in the general.
Edit: Oh well, we’re screwed.

“we’re?” Strange use of pronoun.
I hope you mean as an American.
If you mean as a Republican, you aren’t one.
Second, where do you get this sense of clinton being a juggernaut again?
Waffling, planting questions in crowds, cackling, no achievements of her own, her husband trying to fight battles for her, stealing furniture, health care fiasco, bill clinton in general, inability to hold her temper, poorly played gender card. The list goes on and on and on.
Rudy can win this big.

Kerik won’t hurt his chances. His personal life, his stance on abortion, Gay marriage and gun control…now that’ll hurt his chances.
Hurt his chances with whom? Certainly not with slightly left of center voters. Certainly not with democrats who see hillary for who she is.
In case you haven’t noticed, he’s shoring up his “values voters” credentials.

Rudy’s not going to win anything. No Republican whose name isn’t Ron Paul can defeat the Dems after 8 years of Bush. Certainly not someone who might be better off running on Hill’s ticket rather than as her opponent (Giuliani).
Why don’t you think I’m a Republican?
I think Rudy is the only Republican who can beat Clinton head-to-head this time around. It’s triangulation - as long as the base doesn’t stay home, Rudy can play to the center better than Hillary can.

If the base doesn’t stay home? That’s quite an if there isn’t it?
Ah don’t worry I’m sure that the Southern Baptists and the entire religious right will turn out in droves for Rudy…oh wait…no they won’t.
Now that wouldn’t be so bad if the far right didn’t turn out for Hillary. But, they’ll be lined up when the polls open. They would have just endured 8 years of George Bush.
See what’s happening?
Rudy can’t win, not sure anyone can beat her.
Hmm…
They don’t have to turn out FOR anyone. They will turn out AGAINST Hillary.

That’s exactly the problem. I vote Republican 90% of the time. I won’t vote for Rudy. It may well be the circle I run in, but I know several people here in Idaho that won’t vote for the guy. My old boss who is a pretty fundy Christian and a Huck fan can talk for hours about the evil of Hillary, but even he confesses he doesn’t know if he can vote for Rudy in good conscience. I still think the nod is going to Rudy though because I’ll bet good money the democrats are playing the same game with Hilldog.

Mike,
I’ll bet you vote for Rudy. If your freedoms are as sacred as you state they are, please read every post under “hillary busted.”
Now, you tell me if: planting questions, inability to answer simple questions, and trying to influence the freedom of the press, is more or less frightening to you than Rudy.
Again, if the democrats are foolish enough to send her up, JUST WAIT AND SEE HOW MANY VALUES VOTERS PULL THE LEVER FOR RUDY.

Really?
I refuse to show polling numbers as I would be a hypocrite.
However, I’d venture to say that she is no longer a lock to be the democratic nominee.
With the trashing her campaign does of the media, sooner or later they are going to stop carrying her water.
Even the liberal media is going to rise up against infringement of the freedom of the press.
