This could explain a huge viewership from the female age 3-6 years demographic.

There are quite a few of these in my neighborhood alone, but unless my numbers are way off, there can’t be 2.4 billion of them.

I don’t want to derail Chris’s defense of fitness for leadership by virtue of one’s birth.

Their mommies and aunties will be watching right along with them.

It really is disgusting.

I hate when people fawn all over Hollywood celebrity types too, but at least they do SOMETHING for a living. These pasty inbred royals have come to expect this kind of attention all for being born with the right last name
They do do something, they are vital to the British government’s power. Just as it is a fact of nature that the mass of men are ill qualified for the exercise of political power, so it is written in the eternal constitution of things that a few men, from various causes, are mentally and physically and spiritually suited for social leadership. It just happens their cause is birth, but their power and position is still of the natural order.
Are you serious?
Apart from the current Queen, who is made of stronger stuff, none of our royals have much of a spine, or a brain.
Cereal. None of your royals have a spine? I don’t understand how that goes against what I said. I said it is natural not that it was perfect. And, you have things in place that help with the general spinelessness, the rest of your government. Now, I don’t know the ins and outs of the British government, but it is an old wise government. To dismiss the Crown as a mere celebrity is foolish. The Prince himself went to the middle east for combat did he not? That was until the sensationalist posted it all over their rags for the world to see.

Anyway, I’m watching it because I Love the Queen and admire the Prince from what I know of him. His relationship situation seems like he could have handled it better, but I could have handled mine better as well, so no real judgment on that part. Just happy he is getting married. As well, I love weddings, been to about 15 of them this year.
That was Prince Harry he’s the younger ginger crazy one. William’s army experience is taking a RAF helicopter with his mates to a party in the Isle of Wight.

Mia culpa, well then…

If I have one. Just warning you, you’ll be stepping on your infant stomping grounds…and their will be wine and food for days. If I have one, I’m going old school, seven day feast.

Wouldn’t miss it for the world Chris

Celebrate the wedding by mouth-kissing a distant but directly-consanguineous family relative in honor of the inbreeding in Williams’ family tree!

There does seem to be a lot of shows about brides, weddings, celebrity weddings, Bridezillas and so forth. Maybe this has nothing to do with American’s infatuation with the British, and it’s really just about women still getting into the whole princess thing.

I did want to have a pretty dress for my wedding, but I wasn’t wedding obsessed. We got married at a ski lodge with a close group of friends and family. About 50 people. I like to keep things simple. We picked out the flowers, food, and photographer in one day! I can’t understand why people need 6 months to plan a wedding. I do think it’s nice to have your friends and family there and have some great food.

Good one! Hemophilia anyone? That made me wonder what percentage of Americans claim some royal ancestry, connection to Robert the Bruce, that sort of thing.

We do seem to think people with a British accent sound sophisticated.

Why six months, because weddings are big deals. It’s not just something for whatever, it is important. It is a sacrament.

Let me explain further, my grandmother has what in the family we call the “list,” and this list has a few hundred people on it with numbers and addresses. When it comes wedding time, they are usually invited, and they usually come. That is just on my maternal side of the family, not including my father’s side and the brides side…understand why it might be somewhat of a 6th month-1 year ordeal to plan? Plus, it’s a sacrament. I had over 1,500 people at my confirmation, a wedding is a much more of public sacrament. And, you don’t just plan in one day for something like that. As well, the Crown in England is Anglican so they’ll hold similar views as Catholics when it comes to marriage.

I know I have Irish royal blood and Spanish aristocratic blood, but for the accent, British people (which is just a sweeping statement, but I digress) sound like they are talking with a mouth full of food.

I can’t believe you used to play football. Really?

I wish I could attend the wedding.

I realize that for the Royals, it’s a big political occasion as well. To not include all these heads of state and so forth would be a political snub. I’m not questioning why they throw big weddings, just why Americans are so into it.

I get what you are saying about feeling like this is both an important religious event in your life, and if you have a big family who would be hurt to be left out, etc. In your case, just go with it.

I will warn you though that for most people it’s a fairly stressful day. You spend a lot of money and usually are too keyed up to relax and enjoy it. I hope yours isn’t like that.

I do want to make the point that a big expensive wedding does not equal a super happy long term marriage. My brother’s first wedding was a huge, expensive affair. He was married for 2 years. Mine was really small. I’ve been married for 20.

Chris, some of my incentive to do a small wedding was financial. I was in graduate school at the time, and my parents were still helping me financially. I didn’t want to put more burden on them, and they raised me to be VERY averse to debt. My husband is a pretty quiet guy who could care less about weddings, and would rather not spend one of the most important days of his life with a ton of people he barely knows. He was all about getting on to the honeymoon.

People who spend more than they can afford on a wedding are just nuts IMO, weather your family expects it or not. Getting your marriage off on sound financial footing is more important than spending a lot on that day. I certainly didn’t want my parents to mortgage their home or raid their retirement accounts for it. I only mention this, because it’s a fairly common practice.

I could sleep through the Battle of Gettysburg. I’m not worried about a big wedding, that is to say if I have one.

Well I’m glad, but I never equated one with the other, I equate til death to til death no matter how much it costs.

Thing about comments like this, is that you just make yourself look like a coward because it is just empty words.
