…last one for now, stay tuned!
wow, those will turn out to be delicious tomatoes

For a first time grower though, except when you have very green fingers i guess, hydroponics could be out of your reach. There are so many variables to take into account, even on soil, that without a mentor, the learning curve for succesfull yields is steep…[/quote]
Thing is, you can buy hydroponic set-ups which do alot of stuff for you. I’ve been looking into this for a while now and you can get systems which basicly are almost fully automatic with pumps, valves, timers etc. all you have to do is put the water with nutrients in at the correct time, and ofcourse changing position of the lamp etc.
I’m probably thinking about the entire thing too lightly and underestimating costs etc, but I don’t think that it’ll be THAT hard…
Maybe I’ll pm you sometime this week, if that’s okay with you.
Hydro systems are not all that complex. You can get as simple as two parts connected with a peice of garden hose. The nutrients solution is in a container that is below the grade of the plant container, twice a day you raise the nutrient container above the other container and the nutrients run down the peice of garden hose and into the roots, then after 30 minutes, you lower it back down and the nutrients run out of the plant container into the other one. do it 2 times a day and you all set. You will have to figure out how often to change your solution, but it will be dependant on the load your plants are using. Or if you have a fish tank pump, you just run it in a loop, a timer is better then you can have it run for 30 min, and off for a couple hours, then on for 30 min, off a few hours. etc…
A buddy of mine does hydroponic vegatables in a greenhouse. He knows his shit. He helped me build a back deck system in which I got 10 ft tall cucumber plants with 2.5lb cucumbers every 6 inches. Also I got a rediculous amount of cherry tomatoes. All I had was a rubbermaid container, a fish tank pump, some cut up garden hose, and 2 x 10 Ft PVC Pipe 4 " Diam. And a little wood to mount it to. I just ran the pump during the day and off at night and changed out the nutrients every 2 weeks. The yeilds were rediculous and the growth rate was rediculous. This year I moved and am setting up a 5 pipe system. Also plan to do a competetion pumpkin in one of the planting holes (50 holes total). So maybe I can do some monster pumpkin porn later in the year.

I might be asking much, but I’d really like to hear more about this, such as how to build such a set up (can I build one myself, materials etc) and how I should go about this?
By the way, I won’t be growing much, so initially a hydro system could turn out a little expensive. I’m probably going legal, meaning only 4-5 plants (I think). Plus I’m not looking to make lots of paper (I’m just sick of throwing down 10 euros for a gram of silver haze). The first few grows I mainly want to build some experience so I know my shit, and then start growing more.
BTW, if this is clogging up your great pic-assisted thread, maybe I should start pm-ing?
You must be excited to harvest all that Tribulus Terrestris and enjoy the mild boost of testosterone and slightly improved workouts.

…am i right in thinking you’re still a minor? Not eighteen yet? If you are living at home, your parents are liable, don’t forget that. Maybe you can find a space somewhere, and raise enough capital to get started, but then it begins: simply keeping things secret is hard, and frankly, at your age, it’s so easy to get screwed by a ‘friend’. Anyway, send me a pm and we’ll talk some more…

…don’t worry about going offtopic, it’s still ontopic as far as i’m concerned. If you are growing cannabis with aids, like a HPS lamp, you’re liable, plain and simple. You are allowed 5 plants but that’s outside without any aid. As soon as you take it inside, there are a few things to consider: electricity costs, the odor from the plants, light insulation, ventilation and if you go the hydroponics route, be damned sure you don’t flood the place or else…
…please think long and hard before undertaking anything Rick…

…who me? I quit smoking weed 4 years ago, and lost the appetite alltogether. This is about a little extra cash in the pocket, nothing more…
Those are looking very healthy, looks like they may just be ready when I get there, lol.
…yeah, it sure looks that way!
How can that be HPS. The light is white.
…pics were shot when the light was off, to get better color balance. What you see as white is the camera’s flash…
Update week 7:
…not much to report. Have managed to stave off further leaf degradation by overfeeding them. The carbon filter isn’t capable of filtering all the odor from the air, but it’s managable. I’m just hoping they’ll get fatter still, some are rather thin in the middle, but all in all i’m expecting a reasonable yield…
