Bad call but good rule. QB’s can get hurt pretty easily and who the hell wants to watch 3rd string QB’s?

Yea cuz QBs are pussies. The League needs to sit down with these refs and say ok this is a roughing the passer and this isnt. That call could have easily lost the game for the NY Giants.

Because they cannot protect themselves when they are throwing the ball.[/quote]

Exactly, see how tough d linemen are if they brought back the crack back block.

Was it the Steeler’s Hamm who responded to the Cosel (that’s Howard for all you young guys)question of what the NFL should do to protect the quarterbacks due to a rash of injures? His response, in such a matter of fact way was, “We’ll Howard, make 'em wear dresses.”

And dont forget the success of a team 9/10 times usually resides with an efficient qb who LEADS his team to victory. No wonder why they get so much attention and props…

9/10 times, a team won the game because their linemen controlled the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and then watched quietly as fans and media orgasm as they fawn over the QB’s and WR’s.

Linemen win games. Linemen win championships. Skill players get the adulation.

Its the sad truth. Look at the pats success, look at their Offensive line. Making Moss and Brady look amazing.

Their offensive line was no where to be found during the colt’s game. Matt Light went from looking like a top tackle to being someone’s bitch. On the other end of the sprectrum while most teams utilize the run to eat time, the patriots simply let Brady sit in the pocket for 30 seconds last night. WOW, did that buffalo pass rush suck…

The fact of the matter is it takes a TEAM to win championships. No position does it single handedly. If your quarterback sucks then he’s throwing picks and making bad decisions. If your offensive line sucks then the QB has no time and your running game is gone. Same for every position, it goes on and on.

As for the refs, their job is highly SUBJECTIVE. I’m not saying they made good calls, but considering that no one rule can be finite due to the limitless possibilities of a situation on the field one has to use good judgment.

Colts also had arguably the best defesive end playing in football right now, Before he got injured.

It does take a team to win championships. But with a good offensive line any NFL caliber receiver will have enough time to get open and any NFL caliber QB will have the arm to make an easy pass 9/10 times. I know you’ll say that it all depends on the defense but even the best defense in the game can’t cover everyone for long thats why pass rush is so important.

I understand what you are saying, especially being former DT, but you still need a good QB and good receivers. More than half of the NFL QB’s right now just outright suck, take Alex Smith and put him in place of PM or Brady or Favre and I’d bet he wouldn’t have half the success those QB’s have.

OL will never receive enough credit. They are a hugely integral part of the game, but they alone are not THE game.
