Pimsleur is good, and you can find it on Limewire or a torrent pretty easily. If you’re really wanting true fluency, the Foreign Service Institute courses are without equal. Many of them are public domain, if you can find them (the link below has a bunch). For Spanish, Platiquemos is awesome, but be prepared to shell out $200 or so for the full download.
My wife used it for Spanish and recommends it.
Going to have my son use the program next summer to get a start on Spanish.
