Make sure you hop your front foot forward enough that your knee does not pass your toes when you squat down. You’ll be more stable and avoid possible knee pain issues.
Yes, all of what they said ![]()

Can be done by Renton this evening first time ever with about a third of what he normally squats. Only problem was picking said Renton up of the floor.
Think I may have to practice this one.
Ronda - great lifts. Keep it up mate.
Hey Ronda: Yes, way to go! I never did single leg split squats- but I think sic is right, the picture looks good but I’m always after my group fitness students to keep their knee over their foot.
Also I have been challenged by my knee going to the medial side during these moves, from my abductors overpowering my adductors. I watch to keep my knee directly over my foot. Keep up the impressive work!

Hahaha
Did you fall? I take it you used a barbell?
The balance aspect is a bit weird. I use DB but even with those I had to stop and rebalence this morning. You really feel it in your glutes though… good exercise ![]()

Yeah, that is the thing with this exercise, it helps to do it in front of a mirror so you can see where your foot is in reference to your knee. My knees tend to be a weakness so I am overprotective about positioning though I have noticed that that with increased quad strength I have had less knee trouble, but again it is supposed to work that way ![]()

Ah, that’s what I thought. I’d been calling them Bulgarian split squats. I did them last night.
They are totally evil so I love them.
Todays workout just sucked, so much so I didn’t even finish it because my body had decided it had enough.
Trader!
Deadlifts 4x5x185
Bentover barbell rows 3x8x65
Lat pull downs 3x5x90
I guess we all have off days, this was mine. Doing DL I was just plain weak, it was pathetic, I was all shakey by the end.
Ahh well, tomorrow will be better

Do you deadlift everyweek? It is tough on the CNS and sometimes your body needs to skip a week. Get some rest and food and tomorrow you can kick a$$.
Claire
Yes Claire today was better, though I didn’t DL so I couldn’t really tell

I so did not want to go to the gym today but once I was there and I realized I didn’t feel like a weak kitten today everything went ok.
There was a weird moment though. I was doing my Goblet squats up where all the DBs are. I was resting between sets, minding my own business, when this gym walked up to me and said hi and then proceeded to bend over, I kid you not, his ass 8 inches from my face, and do some sort of one arm row that for some reason needed the support of the weight rack and not a nomal bench where his ass would not be in my face. I just got up and walked away until he was done. Then he looked over his shoulder, smiled, and did the other arm.
I’m not sure if I should have been impressed with that or not or if he was going about a mating ritual in a more direct animalistic way and obviously if he was he had his wires crossed on what his part of the deal would be. The ‘hi’ was a good start but if that was his idea of how to peak my intrest, he was wrong.
That is too funny!
You should have asked him if he was aware his ASS was in your FACE. Maybe you are right and it’s a weird mating ritual. db

What I should have done was have the balls the ask him if he called this flirting. Instead I was more ‘if I ignore it it will go away’. looks the other way
kudos Ronda:
I am going to try the goblet squat, do you have a video of yourself doing them?
Do you always lift that much lighter on stiff legged DL as opposed to your regular ones?
I am up to a 120 lb DL, keeping up with your log for inspiration.
looking good-

I actually do have a video of these, I will post it next ![]()
I do tend to lift less on SLDL, first because lately I have had a pulled lat and the motion of the weight pulling down when I bend over has not felt good at all. Secondly SLDL targets the hamstrings I guess my hamstrings are just not that strong yet. It is a different motion and for some reason I am going up in weight slower with it. There is video on my youtube account of me doing that too if you wanted to check it out.
Goblet squat
Grrrrr at the video uploading

Thanks Claire!
This is my favorite squat to do, though back squats are starting to be my favorite ![]()

No snow storm so I made it to the gym, yay!
Barbell Bench Press 1x10x65, 3x5x95, 1x5x100
One Arm DB Rows 3x5x45 ( I should have done 5x5 but my side was hurting where I pulled that muscle)
Neutral Grip DB Press 1x8x30, 2x7x35 (I just couldn’t manage 8 with 35lbs)
Hammer Strength Iso Row 2x8x45, 1x8x55
Seated Cable Rows 3x8x80
Is it possible for a pulled muscle to spontaneously switch sides? Because it did! I’m not worried though, I got over it on the other side so this side should clear up soon enough.
Lets just ignote the pulled muscle for a moment, I have noticed that while doing One Arm Rows my left side is alot weaker then my right side. I am right handed so it isn’t a shock but I do try to make it a point to pick up heavy things during daily activities with my left arm just to avoid this. It would seem that my right arm is ready to go up in weight but my left is still struggling with the same amount. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to over come ths?

lol - Missed your question Ronda - No I didn’t fall. Well - not as such. I simply put the barbell down in a very unprofessional manner. i.e. dropped it on top of me when I hit the deck.
Fortunately there weren’t too many people round to see ![]()
