Ron Paul On The Record

I was present at the Texas Straw Poll last week, and no one paid my way. The candidate I voted for does not even know that I voted for him.

What I observed with the Paul campaign was disgraceful. This was the only campign that paid for their supporters attendance, paid for busses, had numerous expensive mailers, had their supporters place on all the seats in the convention hall negative material about the other candidates (in violation of Ronald Reagan??s 11th Commandment that ??Thou shall not speak ill of another Republican??), and pack the hall with non-eligible supporters to give the impression that their candidate had overwhelming support. After the votes were taken, the best that Dr. Paul could do in his home state, with all of the expense, was a distant 3rd place. It is a very evident repudiation of his campaign, and indicates that such a lack of support, that the only honorable thing to do would be to withdraw from the race.

After all that his supporters attempts to rig the process (which I verified with members of the Credentials Committee that the process would not be falsified by any campaign), all they could do was complain that they were somehow cheated in the process. The only failure was the failure to convince the rest of the delegates that their candidate is a true Republican, but the attendees saw through that, and made a selection of an honorable candidate that represents true Conservative values. It is time for supporters of that campaign to stop whining, and recognize that the grass roots Republicans of Texas are not going to support this type of activity.

Still, it says an awful lot about Ron Paul??s character or lack thereof. He cared very little, if at all for the victims of 9/11.

You’re pretty dumb to make a statement like this. One it is a value judgment, two you don’t understand the consitution at all. A declaration of war was not made. We did not wage a war against Afghanistan.

P.S. I don’t care about the victims of anything. Life sucks![/quote]

This statement was made by Paul’s Senior Aide Eric Dondero.

Uhhh…no one was bussed in by the Paul campaign…ever. That is a Rudy McRompson technique. Besides, they still required state identification to vote in the straw poll.

Its of no consequence anyway. Paul’s message is picking up steam and as evidence of the establishment’s concern states are changing their primaries and the laws to vote in them to disenfranchise independent voters.

Sad.

The Ron Paul campaign did not pay for this…unlike Romney in Iowa. This blogger is an idiot who is scared of freedom.

Not what I get from reading all the Ron Paul supporters blogs. It seems bussing in Paul supporters is the norm.

You could say he hates Paul for his freedoms.

It is paid for by individuals who happen to support Ron Paul…not the official campaign.

This is the exact message that he is trying to send–Voluntarism!!

Look at all the individual funds that people have spent to create signs and other campaign videos, etc., that didn’t come from his campaign. I am guessing it is at least in the million dollar range that will not get counted.

Being afraid of having absolute freedom with no one to protect you from yourself is a valid fear–especially since modern Americans haven’t ever experienced it.

Hating someone because they think people should have responsibility for their own life is not valid in any form or context.

Fear and hatred are not the same thing.

How does someone hate people “for their freedoms?” Is it jealous hatred? It just seems ridiculous to me to waste one’s time hating–for any reason. Life is way to short.

Lift, you are fooling yourself.

It is my understanding that the Paul campaign doesn’t have much money compared to the other candidates. If so, how can they afford it? More importantly, is bussing people illegal (or immoral)?

It is not illegal or immoral or overly expensive either. While Paul does not have the money to compete with the big boys he certainly can afford this.

It does screw up straw polls if one candidate is bussing in voters and another is not.

He did pretty good when other candidates bussed in people, paid their ticket and spent millions on the straw poll.

If Paul supporters bus in themselves; well, his message is about citizens doing it for themselves.

To which poll are you referring? I have not seen a straw poll with a reasonable sample size. Most seem they can be swayed with a couple bus loads of kids from the local college.

Maybe this :

were Ron Paul made 5th.

Mitt Romney: 4,516 / 31.5%

Mike Huckabee: 2,587 / 18.1%

Sam Brownback: 2,192 / 15.3%

Tom Tancredo: 1,961 / 13.7%

Ron Paul: 1,305 / 9.1%

Tommy Thompson: 1,039 / 7.3%

Fred Thompson: 203 / 1.4%

Rudy Giuliani: 183 / 1.3%

Duncan Hunter: 174 / 1.2%

John McCain: 101 / 1.0%

John Cox: 41 / .1%

So when other candidates use the same tactics Paul doesn’t stand a chance.

But they cannot afford to, and he can.

So much to his small war chest and how much it matters.

It also means that other people do not protest on principle, but on the grounds that they have too little money and/or supporters.

It means that they know straw polls are a waste of time and resources and they would rather focus on other things.

Why do they spend millions on them then?

There must be some “hidden” benefit.
