Romney vs. Santorum; It's ON!

This is true. Romney doesn’t fire me up one way or the other. While I am definatly liberal, he seams mostly harmless.

Also, the left isn’t really fired up about anything either right now.

Santorum would fire up both ends.

When I see Romney, I think of last lines of “We Don’t Get Fooled Again.”
We would not be fooled again , he would be just like Obama. Yeah he would have some minor differences but if there were no news source , I bet no one would know the difference
Sometimes there is plenty of stupid on this board!

Obama – “I will raise your taxes”

Romney-- “I will lower your taxes”

Obama–“Obamacare is good for the country”

Romney-- “The first thing I will do as President is get rid of Obamacare”

Obama-- “I say no to the oil pipeline”

Romney-- “We need the oil pipeline”

Obama-- “Iran is no threat”

Romney-- “Iran is the current biggest threat”

The stated differences are virtually endless…

I see what you’re saying and agree, but here is the thing with me personally. I just don’t trust him to do what he says, not at all, he flips all the time depending on who his targeted audience is.

Now, it is most def a fair point to say that Mitt may do things different, where Obama will surely do exactly as you say. But that’s the problem, that’s why we are where we are. I have to choose between an absolute disaster (Obama) or a guy that says a lot of things I want to hear, yet time and time again has done the opposite. But I will give you this, for sure anyone but the Golden Child. Hate this system, and it needs to change quick.

I’m not asking you to “believe” in Romney. No one knows another persons heart–NO ONE! The only reason Romney, or any other politician will do what he says is that he wants to get reelected. Romney cannot make deals with the Tea Party (and he has), and promise to get rid of Obama care, for example, and then not do it and expect reelection. He is going to have to deliver on about 90% of his promises or face absolute defeat in 2016.

Don’t be fooled by the anti Romney rhetoric, as if Santorum (who was pro abortion before he was against abortion) Gingrich or any of the others on either side are actually better. And look at the democrats. Obama ran around the country singing his “hope and change” mantra. What a crock of shit!

There are no good (good as in true and faithful 100%) politicians. Just politicians who have to do what they say or not get reelected. And the only people who are not getting this are the young. The rest of us have seen enough election cycles to know that they are all whores. So which whore do you want in charge? Your whore or the other persons?

Cynical, or just pragmatic?

Look, if you want a hero look to your local Minister, Football Coach, Father, Mother whomever. Look to people that you actually know something about. But whatever you do DO NOT look to a national politician. We’re not electing a saint and never will. But in the end I’ll take any one who can defeat the person who least matches my views. And there has never been a person in the White Hose who least matches my views as Obama.

Romney can win the others don’t have a ghost of a chance.

“…No one knows another persons heart–NO ONE!..”

BINGO!

Zeb has “seen the light”!

You think? lol

Just to add to this, Christine;

I think we all have been so “close” to winning or getting something, we could almost taste it…yet also had the feeling that it could EASILY slip through our grasp?

Somehow I think that Romney must feel this way.

The Presidency is almost “his to take” (poor economy; unpopular-among-many sitting President; high gas prices; a “throw-the-bums-out” mentality ala 2010 Mid-Terms, etc.)

Yet he could be derailed my his own Party?

It has to be frustrating.

So, you’re saying he probably has a sense of entitlement. It was his turn.

Nope.

I’m saying he must feel frustrated.

“Derailed by his own party” sort of sounds like Romney might think he was entitled to it. I mean, what is “derailed by his own party?” People voting for other candidates.

Agree thoroughly with dk. But I do NOT believe Mitt will do a damned thing about Obamacare, and I quite frankly despise that. I do not trust him on that healthcare issue in any way, shape, or form. I don’t believe a word he says. Everything else is good and all, but there’s no way he cowboy’s up to that. And I’m frankly disgusted that I have to vote for a man I know is a pussy just to get the current disaster out of office. Because when (not if) Mitt ignores his campaign promise to get rid of Obamacare it will be far too late for the next president to have a prayer of canceling that ugly behemoth of an anchor.

^
Of course he’s not.

Edit:

This is part of the reason why I think that Romney is mostly harmless and I understand the discontent the social conservatives have.

While it may not be scientific and I can’t ever really know what is in his heart, I don’t believe that Romney believes half of the shit he is saying now. I think he will play it safe.

Have they done anything on Obama trying to dictate to Catholic associations? Just wondering.

What exactly is Santorum’s appeal? How is he getting so much support???

As I’ve said repeatedly there is no upside for Romney to NOT get rid of Obamacare. ABout 65% of America hates, he said he’d get rid of it and he’s made promises to many conservatives about getting rid of it.

Why wouldn’t he get rid of it? What’s the impetus to keep it? You think he has core values that cause him to really like it? And if he does have core values then why is he lying about getting rid of it?

Him NOT getting rid of it makes no sense. And if Romney is anything he’s practical.

And if one hundred thousand union dems didn’t go out to vote for Santorum (because they know he would get crushed by Obama) Romney would have won by close to 10 points. And as a point of interest Romney has not lived in Michigan for about 40 years. Would anyone have expected Ronald Reagan to win Illinois just because he was born there? He later became Governor of California, just as Romney’s state is really Massachusetts.

Yes, when people hear OBAMACARE, they don’t like it. But when they break it down to individual components they get less pissy.

Gas prices are going up, but people are more worried about having a job to go to than how much it costs to get them there and the unemployment rate is going down (yes, I know the republican spin is that people aren’t looking for jobs anymore) and the stock market is doing pretty good now. Are there issues and worries? Yes. But if the trend is positive, this is only good news for us all.

Of course all of this can change, but these going to be the issues people are thinking of when they cast their ballots.
