Apparently his first term is a ploy and if reelected he will get rid of the 2nd amendment, lol.

Opposed bill okaying illegal gun use in home invasions. (Aug 2008)
Ok for states & cities to determine local gun laws. (Apr 2008)
FactCheck: Yes, Obama endorsed Illinois handgun ban. (Apr 2008)
April 2008: "Bittergate" labeled Obama elitist. (Apr 2008)
Respect 2nd Amendment, but local gun bans ok. (Feb 2008)
Provide some common-sense enforcement on gun licensing. (Jan 2008)
2000: cosponsored bill to limit purchases to 1 gun per month. (Oct 2007)
Concealed carry OK for retired police officers. (Aug 2007)
Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
Keep guns out of inner cities--but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
Bush erred in failing to renew assault weapons ban. (Oct 2004)
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)
He has voted numerous times in favor of Gun’s(By that I mean being more accessible.)
But some how the NRA still hates this dude. Somebody explain to me WHY? Or they really think hes gonna pull the ole’ switch a roo? And if they think so were’s the proof? His actions as president have dictated other wise.

He’s a democrat and his past is worrying, which makes gun owners myself included worried. To be honest though as far as gun rights organizations go the NRA is worthless as there willing to compromise for the sake of realpolitik.
That being said a Romney presidency should worry gun owners far more than Obama. As i mentioned in the “if Obama win’s” thread Downe’s theory will come into play and Romney will move to the center just as Obama did. Like Obama Romney has a past of supporting gun control, but unlike Obama he has the benefit of being republican while doing it. Meaning that if gun control measures do go through the house or senate Obama will be criticized and have to consider how those measure will effect his party, otherwise he will alienate independents who guns are a issue or barometer of the political climate of the democrat party. Romney on the other hand is more of a danger to gun rights due to the fact that no matter who controls congress Washington will be more amiable to gun control. If the a democrat controlled congress were to pass any gun control measures that Romney does not veto republicans will get the blame by virtue of occupying the highest office in the country, which will alienate voters from the republican party. While if gun control bills are passed in a democrat congress and vetoed Romney knows that the democrats will paint him as a far right ideologue. On the other hand if we have a Republican congress they will be more likely to pass gun control bills without fear of veto, which more gun control laws seem likely with the outbreak of recent shootings. Republicans tend not to be big 2nd amendment supporters unless democrats are in office, and Romney taking the white house sets the political barometer well to the left in the republican party signifying to neo-cons that the electorate is much more likely to be favorable of those measures.
Any one that likes Obama , should love Mitt , just think he’s white
