Now that’s out of the way I do like some things there though. During the day I would get out of town. Rent a Jag (or other nice car) and check out Hoover Dam. Go early or late in the day otherwise you’ll die from heat though (not sure where in Australia you’re from and whether you’re used to 45 degree plus weather). They do tours of the dam that are pretty cool and the drive isn’t terrible and gives you some time alone. You could also do a helicopter tour if you would prefer that.
I like sitting outside at Mon Ami Gabi for the perfect view of the water show at the Bellagio. I would check out one of the Cirque shows like Zumanity. I like the small bar in the MGM Grand because it’s relatively quiet but it’s been a while since I’ve been there.

PLENTY of world-class fine dining options available in that city. From aged steaks to snooty french cuisine to top-quality sushi that you don’t even get to select yourself (sushi chef does) - it’s all there.
Plenty of (overpriced) spas and salons at all the major properties as well, and women tend to love that crap.
So, between that and spending a little extra on a suite, vegas can be an amazing trip with gf/wifey/mistress/etc

G’day all, I’m heading over to LA and Vegas next month for my missus’s birthday, and I’m trying to plan a big day/night for her birthday day.

Side note, any other awesome shit people recommend for Vegas, besides smashing beers and gambling
Thanks! :)[/quote]
I love Vegas. There’s so much to do it’s ridiculous… There is like 30 Cirque de soliel shows. I saw “Love” which was good. Mystere was supposedly really good too my kids saw it and loved it, but apparently “O” is the best. It’s at the Bellagio.
You can take a gondola ride in, or on the outside of the Venetian. It’s a really cool place to stroll through, too. The way it’s set up is really awesome. So it’s a cool place to just walk and talk. Also, the rooms are sweet and you can score a nice one for like $170. Also the Winn, which is just beautiful has rooms around $120 to $200, but it’s the nicest hotel on the strip. Super swanky…
Dinners are just to many options to think about.
If you want something truly unique, I suggest the Burger Bar in Mandalay Bay… I haven’t eaten there yet, but it’s on my to-do list when I go back. It’s supposedly just unreal, a burger with truffles? Where else but Vegas… http://www.burger-bar.com/lv_main.php
So if you do a show, dinner, gondola, ride, some gelato and a few good drinks, she should be up for a night of proper pole ridin’… This night with hotel, dinner, show, gondola, drinks will cost you about $600.
I guess the real question is, how much do you want to spend?

Good point.
Burger Bar has become must-have meal, and Ive got at least a five-trip streak currently going. My sister originally clued me in on this, as she actually pays attention to chefs and such. So you’ve got those high-end truffles, foie gras on kobe burger, etc options or you can go the ~$15 route for grassfed, choose your bacon, choose your mushrooms, choose your onions, even add sauteed spinach and so on.
And also must-mention in any vegas thread here: Spearmint Rhino. certainly romantic for some…
I’ve already got accommodation sorted, thankfully. Staying at the Stratosphere, scored a sweet deal on Expedia.
Thanks for the suggestions, the burger bar looks off the fucking hook awesome. Definitely checking that out. Cirque sounds great as well, will hit that up.
I’m used to hot weather, so checking out Hoover Dam sounds like another top idea as well. I think she was looking into helicopter flights or some shizzle. I’ve booked a car for the entire time we’re there too
