Rock-Bottom Protein Intake for Strength Gains

You definitely need more as you age. You may be remembering my article HERE on that topic. But for someone already in a lifter’s mindset and already eating a lot of protein, it may not require too much extra, maybe 20 grams based on my research. That’s a bit of a hypothesis though because the researchers who study this stuff aren’t exactly looking deeply into the sub-sub-group of middle-age+ bodybuilders.

I’m not sure if protease enzymes are necessary unless someone has a digestive disorder like hypochlorhydria or a more severe malabsorption problem like Crohn’s. But, they certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Source of protein matters too, say meat vs. casein hydrolysate (Mag-10), which is, in a sense, “pre-digested.”
