I started off with the Trainer. I now have the level 1 as well which i’m yet to use. Level 1 is two levels higher ( they go up by 0.5 increments) so there’s the guide, the sport, the trainer. 0.5, 1,1.5,2,2.5,3,3.5,4.
As of yet only only 5 people in the World have been able to fully close the CoC No.4 under Certification Guidelines. Level 4 is (367lbs)
You can become CoC certified when you close a level 3 gripper under the official conditions.
I went from barely closing the trainer to doing it for twenty reps in a really quick time period, literally made my grip so much stronger already. Good for building forearm mass too i’ve noticed.
If you’re considering getting one also look into buying the ironmind hand bands which is good for building up hand strength and keeping your whole arm healthy.
Heres my limited experience with training grippers: hopefully I can give you ideas for programming the gripper if you’re interested. If you read back in my log you can get an idea of what i use.
Firstly, start off slow because if you don’t it will thrash your grip for days and impact your gym sessions.
I stole timed holds from @T3hPwnisher’s log which are great and i’m also a big fan of negative reps where you do a certain amount of regular reps then complete the set with the other arm assisting. Week to week i was able to improve by setting targets. E.g:
If i could do 3 regular reps in a set maximum, you do three reps then 2 assisted so you’ve now done 5 reps. Next weeks session i was able to do 6 or so reps unassisted etc.
With timed holds i started off low ( like 20) seconds and added ten or twenty each week. Burns like crazy.
And of course once you progress to new grippers i’m sure the training will be different and progress will slow. ( obviously otherwise everyone would close the #4) I’m hoping what worked for The trainer will work on the #1.
So yeah i highly recommend the purchase.
Didn’t mean for such a longer post lol.
