Btw I heard he was a promising BASS-ketball player in junior High, but in High school he was not able to keep UP.

Poor Dave Brubeck. His Memorial thread is turning into a Branch Bashing thread!
Man that Take Five song brings back a flood of memories. If there is a heaven My mom is standing up there somewhere with a program in her hand waiting for an autograph from this great master.
She would play this stuff all the time when I was little and say to me " listen to this fella play, what timing, what flavour!"
When I was older I would say “listen to Ted Nugent play, he talk’s about shooting a rhinos balls off at fifty paces, flavour that Mom” lol.

Yes. He also composes electronic dance music, and is developing a nice following, as well as getting certain record labels to take notice.

Damn. That’s sad news. Brubeck is without doubt one of my very favorite jazz musicians of all time. ![]()

Sarah Vaughan - Ultimate Sarah Vaughan (Sarah is THE best female vocalist ever, IMHO)
Ella Fitzgerald - pick up any best of collection
Steve Lawrence - pick up any best of collection (Steve is in many ways better than Sinatra. Such finesse!)

Nice list. I’ll add the following:
Billie Holiday–any best of collection… I am in LOVE with her
Eva Cassidy–Songbird (Eva IMHO is much better than Sarah Vaughan. Sorry ID :P. This girl is my favorite female vocalist all-around.)
BOTH YOU AND IRON DWARF need to listen/watch her version of Over the Rainbow on Youtube. It’s…haunting. This was shortly before she died, and you can tell she feels it. One of the best single arrangements ever made. Turns a trite musical number into something profound. - YouTube

Is this his music?
I must admit I dont listen to dubstep, but from what my little brother ( who plays music himself ) tells me, dubstep tunes take some serious set of musical skills to create. I hope your son does it great and I can see on youtube that alot of folks in the commentary section digs it.

Yes, that’s him. Dubstep is only one style he works in under the EDM heading.
He’s versatile.
Thanks Flo!

That was beautiful! I like how you worded it too, Aragorn.
I feel the same way about Coltrane’s version of My Favorite Things. He took a dopey little showtune, and turned into something sublime. I still feel the exact same indescribable feelings when I hear it today, as I did the first time I heard it many years ago.

Very nice. I saw Leon Russell do this number in a small venue and it was one of the most emotional songs I have ever seen.
